Nice place for lunch, good choice
Lunch here was chicken breast stuffed with haggis, whisky sauce, and served with seasonal vegetables. Nicely cooked, but the vegetables were plain boiled with no butter or seasoning, although we had requested this. The meal was nice, but overpriced, and with a very basic pub dining area, and in our case, just outside the toilets.
Fantastic Lunch
Called in for lunch on a quick visit to Johnshaven and I'm so pleased we did. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was gorgeous. Great choice for vegetarians as well. What else can you ask for. Recommendation from a member of staff to visit Lunan Bay Beach on the way home was a good call as well. Thank you.

Mr Burden
This 2as a business stay for one night - the hotel permitted me to stay that night (I had carried out an RGN position in nearby Montrose that day). There was no available meals due to lockdown but the hotelier prepared a meal fir me. Breakfast was also excellent. I had a really good nights sleep and enjoyed the ensuite facility. I can really recommend this hotel.
A lovely place to stay
We booked a stay(with another couple) at the Anchor Hotel Johnshaven, to celebrate the New Year. We popped in there for lunch quite a few times before that and we knew that the food was always good, and the staff were very friendly. We had a lovely time staying there. Our room was clean, tidy, bright and airy. The rooms were extremely well priced, considering it was New Year, and the only proviso was that we stayed 2 nights.. No problem, 31st and the 1st Jan. We couldn't fault the staff, who were so welcoming and friendly. Anything you needed, and you only had to ask. We had a candlelit dinner on 31st. The food was really excellent (full marks to the chef) as was the waitress service. We had a lot of fun at the disco in the bar, where we saw the bells in. I would have given our stay 5 stars but for the lack of heating in the room. We did speak with one of the staff who provided us with portable heaters. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would certainly go back.
