You get what you pay for
We booked this hotel because it basically worked out £20 a night and it’s location, literally a 10 min walk down to the old town and the beach however it’s like a 20 min walk back as it’s up hill so we got a taxi from town and cost €6. The room was basic literally bed, bathroom small dressing table but we were only sleeping and showering here so it didn’t really matter, the staff were pleasant and helpful which is always a bonus. Breakfast was simple bread rolls jam cereal so we ended up buying breakfast in town as you can get a full English for about €4 but it was nice to have a drink before we walked down. Room was clean but basic what more do you want for €20 a night ha! Fantastic holiday and despite being October the weather was still nice enough to sit on the beach in
Not good enough
Well hotel de gale what can be said that hasn't already been said. The good points free wifi in reception and roof bar which actually works, the view from roof bar is breathtaking. Bad points that I've not already read . Damaged door all split large gap at top of door. Plaster peeling from ceiling, only 2 plug points in room in bathroom so can iron etc. No hospitality tray , towels not white , bedding ok . We asked for extra pillows twice , finally got them with no pillow cases they said we dont have any. For whatever reason around about 3/4 on afternoon our veranda got soaked from above overflow . Breakfast was usual drinks ok, 2 choice of cereal ok, apples and oranges, bread buns , and a choice of jams. Worst point without doubt is the location easy walk down steep bank to old town but really hard work getting back up steep long banks plus maybe 50/60 steps into hotel. Pool area terrible water looked murky and freezing not much space to sit around. We dont normally take other reviews seriously we speak as we find but you must believe all the reviews and do yourself a favour and give it a miss.
Miss field
Clean but basic... Staff are lovely for price cannot complain.. breakfast is basic jams coffee bread some fruit could have a toaster but staff will toast for u in kitchen if you ask ... Would not advise walking difficulty people to this hotel as lots of steps and at at top of hill... The manager is very hospitable and a lovely person they also own apartments more central to square well worth a look and very good priced
Cheap for a reason
We were checked into the wrong room which was horrible. The next day we were moved to the room we booked only to find it just as tatty as previous although we did have a sea view. The breakfast you would not pay for as it's just cereal and bread so the complimentary part it to help sway you to stay. Pool looked abit grubby but so is the whole place. Really needs renovating top to bottom. Would not stay here again.
Wrong room
I booked this hotel last minute as friends where staying .the first night wrong room as I paid for sea view rooms grubby and dated hotel bar very poor and the breakfast terrible. At 75 euros a night for a "seaview" not good value for money and will not be returning in a hurry .
