Great location but

The room was comfortable enough but aircon in the room was totally ineffective & it was boiling overnight. The bathroom could be tidied up, black/mould on the grouting at the bottom on the wall & bath. No cold beer on tap, only small bottles & although it was advertised there was no gluten free beer. At the price it was OK but not as good as previous trips.

Rooms badly isolated from noise/large groups not respecting confinement rules

Despite the fact that the Madrid is in confinement, the hotel allow a large group of people to sit and drink together until 1:30 AM hours in the night; Despite the allerts to the reception, the situation remains until 1:30 AM.

Too hot

The bed was not good, the room temperature was too hot, and the windows don't open. There was group of kids dining and they were too noisy! The staff in the restaurant could have told us that the dinner would be that noisy. The food was not good, and the pizza tasted like frozen pizza.

Nice Hotel Outside of Madrid

We arrived prior to the check-in time. They stored our luggage. Once our room was ready, they let us check-in early. The front desk was very helpful in answering questions that we had. The room was very clean. Also, the restrooms on the bottom floor were very clean. We had no problem getting rest, prior to dinner. Also, got a good night's sleep. There were numerous restaurants near this hotel, as well as a restaurant in this hotel. We ate lunch at hotel restaurant. The food was good and they provided quite a bit of food for the price. They offered a wide selection of items for breakfast. However, we couldn't go in to breakfast until a specific time, since we were in a group. For the most part, it really didn't make sense to have us wait, when only a few folks were in the breakfast area and they did nothing to prepare for the group. There was a convenience store near the restaurant, if you forgot something or just wanted to get some water or snacks. In the event that you would like to acquire euros, there are a number of banks near this hotel.

great value hotel just outside Madrid

We booked a 4 night stay at the Campanile at very short notice as a cost effective alternative to staying in the Madrid centre. The Campanile is beside the Renfe La Garena station which is about 35 mins from Atocha station. The hotel is clean, rooms were clean and comfy (and spacious enough for 3) and the station is right beside the hotel. Breakfast can be booked in advance or each morning - there is a cafe for coffee/snacks as well, but the buffet breakfast is excellent. There is also free, secure parking at the hotel. In addition to the train, there is a night bus service from Madrid which stops 10 minutes walk form the hotel, if you're in the city late.
