Dated Beachfront Hotel
Hotel 1. Direct Beach Access by private beach door that works with our room key. 2. Facilities: Spa, Kids playground and wide open areas for kids to play. 3. Exterior Facade: The exterior looks so dated that it scared me up to to the point of almost canceling my booking and driving away the first time I came to this Hotel. 4. Lobby: Lobby was nicely renovated along with the elevators (however the elevator info screens aren’t working) 5. Parking: no underground parking and the outdoor parking is very limited so we always had to park in the vicinities of the Hotel. Check-In/Out 1. Check-In on weekends is caos because they ask everyone to come after 16h. We called ahead both times asking to arrive at 14.00h but the staff tells everyone the rooms are only available after 16h. 2. Check-out is at 12h and we tried to get a late checkout but the staff without checking the computer just says it’s not possible. Rooms 1. Furniture and wallpaper are a blast from the past and belong in the last century. 2. Air Conditioning: Why was there a refurbishment this century but there’s no central AC???? AC is a basic interior wall-mounted unit so it’s impossible to sleep with the noise the AC makes while working. Also if we want to sit in the balcony we have to turn off the AC because the exterior unit is above our heads in the 3m2 balcony blowing heat at our face. 3. Balconies: In desperate need of refurbishment as they resemble pre-historic caves with painting that looks like burnt candle wax dripped all over the walls. Also, please remove the exterior AC unit from the balconies! We have to be cooked alive if we want to sit outside while the AC is chilling our room (ridiculous!). 4. Bathroom is just dreadful with old school tiles, tub and toiletries (even in the expensive suites). 5. Paper thin walls up to the point you can hear the conversations of the rooms nexdoor and the room above. 6. No power socket next to the bed so if you want your phone charged you have to place it in the other end of the room or buy extension cables (ridiculous!) Breakfast 1. The outdoor seating provides a truly remarkable setting to have breakfast. 2. The interior breakfast area is dated and could use with updated flooring and wallpaper. 3. Due to Covid19 we are given a menu to chose from and unfortunately the waiters are instructed to refuse any order that’s not on the menu. Had to call Inês to get a omelette instead of scrambled eggs. Staff 1. Reservation staff is truly remarkable! Catarina Valente did her best to accommodate every request both time we visited this year so I highly recommend always booking directly with the Hotel. 2. The Breakfast Manager - Inês - is the go to person for special requests as the rest of the staff are formated to only accept orders of what’s on the breakfast menu. 3. Pool Bar manager Leonardo informed me that there’s no service at the the pool so guests have to leave the pool and go sit upstairs in order to have a quick snack or drink but after a quick chat with Leonardo he ended up bringing our drinks and hotdogs to the pool (Thank you Leonardo)! 4. PoolBoy Diogo allows all sunbeds to be reserved the whole day regardless if guests are at the pool or at the beach so obviously it’s very difficult to get a sunbed. Diogo actually informed me that I can leave my towels in the sunbeds in the morning and return at the end of the day to still find them reserved for me (ridiculous!). Price: very expensive for the overall experience you get from this dated Hotel but you are paying for the beachfront location and direct ocean view. Final thoughts: Eurotel could easily evolve from a dated 4 start hotel to the best 5 Start Hotel in the Algarve with a proper refurbishment that included a new exterior facade, centralized Air Conditioning, new balconies, new bathrooms, modern furniture/decoration in all rooms and why not a beach bar with sunbeds just for Hotel guest (Wishful Thinking!).
Awful experience and extremely overpriced
I'll start with a positive note: the location and the views are very good. Everything else about this hotel is just disappointing. From having to wait 2 hours for our room to be ready, A/C not useful because it smells horrible, having a corridor window cracked open which made extremely loud sound at night to being able to listen to everything single word and movement of any of our neighbours... Finally, the price, I feel like I've been robbed. Extremely overpriced for its quality.
Great location + staff
Great location within walking distance of the beach. The hotel has some interesting details that disguise the fact that it is not the most modern place 😊 Our room had a good size with a comfortable bed and a small balcony ( not a great view because we were on the 2nd floor); the a/c was noisy and not very effective, sound isolation, especially in the bathroom, was not very good. With all the Covid-19 restrictions, there was no buffet breakfast, but they reorganized the processes and it worked quite well. Great professional staff. Let me call out Inês, who managed brilliantly the breakfast room, and Antonieta, who kept our room spotless throughout our stay. Well done and thanks.
Love this hotel
We have stayed at this hotel 3 times within 2 month and we really liked it the position And Altura, at this time of year it's very quite but in season it's really busy. The price of the hotel this time of year is great but in summer it's 3 times the price. I don't think I would pay that amount for the summer for the hotel. The staff were brilliant and the breakfast and dinner was were good for the price we paid, we would definitely stay again.
Great hotel location, friendly staff and clean comfortable rooms
A family group of us stayed for a week 11th - 18th Feb, the staff were friendly and welcoming and the hotel was bright airy and comfortable. The location was great and we all had views of the sea from our balconies, you could hear the waves and the sunrise and sunsets were amazing. We hired bikes which were dropped off at the hotel at only €5 each for a day, bargain! We only had breakfast but there was plenty to choose from, hot or cold which set us up for the day, again the staff were great. There were plenty of seating areas inside and out, outdoor pools, spa treatments, mini golf and great walks along the beach only minutes from the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel, one of the best in the area!
