More about the hotel
Great staff, comfortable room
I come down to Texas every year for the Texas State Fair. Unfortunately, the Fair was cancelled this year, but by gollies, I was gonna get my vacation by hook or by crook! I came down and spent 5 nights in the hotel. I have a few friends and relatives in the area, so I visited with them briefly, properly socially distanced and masked, of course! However, I spent most of my time in and around the hotel. It's at the intersection of two major highways ( Highway 35W and Highway 67), so there is a certain amount of noise, but the rooms are quiet, all things considered. I didn't expect much of a breakfast with the COVID pandemic, but they actually had a relatively good variety of wrapped items, so people could put together a pretty good breakfast if they so chose. I brought some of my own food, and just supplemented from the breakfast choices they had. In normal times I eat more from the breakfast buffet. I think they're doing their best in these extraordinary circumstances. The staff is friendly and helpful. I especially enjoyed visited with ReAnna. She is awesome! We had a couple of lovely chats. All of the employees were kind and nice. I had a good time sitting and reading, walking in a nearby neighborhood, and just chilling! If you come to visit Southwestern Adventist University (just down the road) or friends or relatives south of the Metroplex, or even the Dallas/Fort Worth area itself, this is a lovely place to stay. I would recommend it! One fun highlight that I had never noticed before was a tree in front of the hotel that seems to house about 20 to 30 birds (sparrows?) roosting in it every night, at least at this time of year. I enjoyed watching them hop around in the branches and sing their little songs. Once again, maybe this only happens during certain seasons, but if you enjoy birds, you might like checking out that tree! Who knew there was a Bird Hotel right next to the Comfort Inn?! Also, if you want to stay in the area to eat, I enjoyed the Daily Special Cafe in the little shopping center across the I-35 access road from the hotel. It's near the Berkshire's grocery store. If you like down-home country cooking, it's a nice place to eat. I went at mid-afternoon and was almost the only person there, and the entire staff chatted with me (from a distance) as I ate. I enjoyed it thoroughly!
Closest Hotel to Wedding Venue
Hotel was the perfect location for our wedding party. Give some props to the front desk person Misty Dawn. She went above and beyond what we needed and was very accommodating. The hotel is clean however, there are some very minor maintenance issues that could be addressed. Beds were clean and comfy and room A/C would freeze you out. Would recommend for a stop if you are in the area. Plenty of fast food near the hotel.
Would not issue a refund
We booked this hotel to evacuate to during the recent Hurricane evacuation. We booked two reservations with a cancellation policy so that we could cancel if the Hurricane didn't come our way or changed. When I went to cancel the hotel would not give us our money back. I would not trust this hotel if you need to cancel for any reason.
Excellent for the price!
We were traveling through Texas from north to south and made reservations here as we were wanting to get further out of the Ft. Worth traffic for the next morning. This was a very nice motel considering the amazing overnight price. We haven't stayed in a place with prices like this for years. So when we came back north we stayed here again. Sheets were fabulous! Breakfast was good, I had a Texas shaped waffle, juice and yogurt. We would stay here again.
Nice Room, (check the bed softness)
I picked this location by accident but was impressed with the rooms appearance. It was quiet and seemed comfortable until bed time. The mattress was so soft it actually swallowed me. I spent 2 agonizing hours trying to find a position to rest my tired old bones. Joints that never hurt started to ache. The bed was so "soft" that it hurt to lay in it. The front desk offered another room, the bed checked out & I finally got a few hours sleep.
