Heart warming service
We have stayed at Tweedies a few times and were planning to celebrate New Year there this year. Unfortunately we have had to rethink our visit and when contacting the hotel they could not have been more understanding and accommodating - making our booking a lot more flexible when times are safer. The hospitality sector have and are still suffering during this pandemic so it is heart warming to know that Tweedies put their guests before profits. Well done.
Christmas shopping.
We always spend a few days in early December Christmas shopping and make our base Tweddies. In these difficult times the staff have made every effort to make ones stay as pleasurable as possible. The room was comfortable and very clean. We ate in Tweddies restaurant each evening and the food and drink proved to be as good as ever. All in all, a very pleasant few days under difficult circumstances. Already booked for next year.
Staff were friendly and accommodating
The staff were friendly and the price wasn’t bad for what you got. The standard of food was nice too. A lot of touristy areas the quality tends to slip a little bit. COVID was taken very seriously here which is great!
Enjoyable stay during the Covid situation
We booked for one night as was visiting daughter who works in Grasmere, very nice young lady greeted us on check in and explained the restrictions they had in place. I asked could we use the lounge area to meet our daughter in the morning as the forecast was not good and was told no problem. Our room and bathroom were fine, however both could do with some TLC. The let downs were the shower, to turn it on you had to force the dial to the point you thought it was going to break, also the kettle inadequate, if you boiled the kettle and refiled it to get it to boil you had to hold your finger on the switch. Breakfast was lovely and the service was very good.
Mecca for Beer
As ever, we had a superb meal at Tweedies. We visit Tweedies every time we come to Grasmere and it never disappoints. Superb range of cask ales and the food was excellent. If you like real ale it’s a must visit
