Welcoming hosts in a cosy central B&B

Very welcoming hosts to a clean, central B&B, with nice rooms and hearty breakfast. We had to stay at short notice due to a power cut in our village. Steve and Cas were very helpful and said they’d keep our room until we knew when the power would be back on where we were staying. The rooms were clean, warm and cosy. The breakfast was very good; we had full English but the pancakes looked great too! Very reasonably priced and central with parking outside. The hosts make the place as they are friendly and can’t do enough for you.
A truly wonderful place to stay.

First trip to the lakes and it did not disappoint . Fantastic scenery. Hillsdale B&B is ideally situated with everything on the doorstep and secure parking. Immaculately clean, stylish and lovely little extra touches to make your stay even more comfortable . The owners go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need and more . Highly recommend and can’t wait to visit again .
Best in Ambleside

We’ve stayed in many a hotel / B&B in Ambleside over the years. This was our first stay in Hillsdale and from the outset it was a brilliant experience. Cas & Steve were there to welcome us and it was clear to us that their attention to detail and customer care were outstanding. We were told that if we wanted anything we just needed to ask. We are not a couple that like intrusion but their approach was spot on. The room was great and very comfortable. A superb breakfast (refreshing served hot) was served in the dining room and it set us up for the day. A big thanks to Cas &Steve for making our stay so enjoyable. Needless to say our next stay will be here.

We have been staying at Hillsdale for around 10 years now, have always thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This time we met the new owners Steve & Caz. They are a friendly, chatty couple. They made us feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were as before clean, very comfortable. There was a daily sheet to fill in for breakfast. We had the full English every morning. There is plenty of choice from fruit to cereals, fruit juices, selection of teas and coffees. Toast. Bacon, eggs ( poached, scrambled, fried , boiled) sausage, beans, tomatoes, hash browns, mushrooms. Pancakes, kippers a really good menu. Food was cooked to perfection. Steve was asking if everything was ok, did we want more tea, toast etc. The food was tasty and set you up for a day’s walking. We were told if needed anything just ask. We hope to be back next year and wish Steve and Caz all the best and carry on with what they are doing best - a great job.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Hillsdale in Ambleside. Caz and Steve attentive hosts and served a delicious, freshly cooked breakfast each morning. The B&B is in an excellent location, perfect for exploring other towns in the area and just a short walk from Ambleside town centre, where there is a choice of great restaurants. You won’t be disappointed if you choose to stay here.
