Now it's time for our guests of Max Brown to call these beautiful canal houses their home away from home in Amsterdam. The Amsterdam Canal District area is likely everybody's favourite part of Amsterdam. As you probably already know, the Amste...

cute place with a friendly staff

Reviewed 28 july, 2021

We spent 2 days in Amsterdam, and stumbled on the Max Brown hotel. It was in a great location, good food and an amazing staff. Would recommend. The only negative was neither our door lock nor safe worked, but it was in a safe area, so it didn't really matter.

It was lovely

We felt very welcome and the staff was helpful and patient. We loved the area. Only a few minutes walk from the station. We could look onto the Grachten from the room. I would definitely stay there again.

Cute hotel in a great location

We just spent 3 nights in this small hotel with great canal views. Very good location, walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast due to COVID restrictions was brought to the table in a wooden basket. Bread, butter, jam, cheese, yoghurt and an apple or banana. Would have been nice to have a choice of dark bread and different fruits. Room was very small with limited space for suitcase or hanging clothes. But we didn’t mind because we were out all day and the great location made up for it!

Great little hotel

This hotel was a great little find. The staff were amazing and helpful at all times. It’s was exceptionally clean. It was in a great location close to many sights and the Eurostar. It’s in a very pretty area by all the canals. The breakfast was fresh each morning with hot coffee. I know things are difficult with COVID but the breakfast could vary each day. I.e. maybe a different croissant and ham instead of cheese or maybe offer some cereal. Just a thought. My only problem was the three flights of stairs to my room. It’s probably not a problem for most as it wasn’t for my husband but having a bad leg I found it difficult. There were no other rooms available so we just dealt with it. The room was also rather hot with no air conditioning we did use the fan which did help. I would imagine this isn’t a problem for most of the year we just happened to get very hot weather. The room itself was really nice with a lovely view of the canals. I would stay here again but ask for a room on the ground or first floor. I would recommend this hotel to friends. Thank you

Excellent hotel, centrally located and great views!

I booked a last minute stay here a couple of weeks ago, and checked into a small canal view room. The room had all essentials needed for my stay, including lovely bathroom products, and the view was amazing! The staff were friendly, the breakfast was great (they've done really well to adapt considering a buffet is not currently allowed due to COVID) and the bed was super comfortable. I was sad when I had to check out, and I'll definitely be back to stay again!
