Mercure Angra dos Reis

We don’t usually complaint But the experience was bad for the price we paid for a weekend we expected more The room wasn’t clean The TV was broken (but replaced) With kids the least we expect nowadays when you in the room is a good WiFi and there was not WiFi The food was very poor quality We had to return the food and go elsewhere after waitting 1.5hours for a raw pizza , cold chips and frozen squid . Overall wasn’t a great experience and would not recommend for families

We were a underwhelmed with our stay at the Mercure hotel. Overall the hotel is tired and in need of some TLC (I’m sure it said somewhere it’s meant to be 4 star?!). The first room we were given wasn’t clean, had a terrible smell in the bathroom and the ac unit was placed so that it was blasting the bottom of the bed with cold air rather than the rest of the room. Fortunately the very kind staff moved us to another room which was an improvement. The pool and bar area were great, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, however overall we felt the Mercure fell short of our expectations and price we paid.

Check in and check out was very time consuming. The plaster of the porch ceiling was falling. Worst of all, there was construction work in the hotel. The loud noise of the materials, drill and bricklayers caused the labyrinthitis to attack, even though it informed the reception that it was sick, the hotel did not interrupt the noise.

Stayed in this hotel for 6 nights booking 2 rooms for a family of 5 since advertised having kitchens. The hotel is secure and pool area and dining room are nice but the rooms are quite run down although on plus side are quite large. Furniture is very cheap and worn and the sofa ripped. There is no equipment at all (not even a cup and teaspoon) and had to ask for everything. The hotel don't have kettles at all and although state have microwaves, had to ask for one. Also had to ask for some basic things like a bedside lamp. We paid extra for sea view rooms but the picture on the website is not the room you get (and no proper sea view). When we complained we were told their own website was wrong and had quite a frustrating time trying to sort out. We moved to the large suite which actually has 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and a sofa bed sleeping 5 but you cant book that for 5 people online. Note the pool is closed one day a week for maintenance and the gym was shut all the time we were there although this was not indicated when we booked either. Like many places in Brazil they do not cater well for vegetarian, vegan, and meat gets added to almost everything. We didn't eat at night for that reason but there is a shopping centre very close by which has a number of restaurants in it. This could be a decent enough hotel but needs some work to bring it up to standard.

This hotel could have been a good one, years ago. Everything so so, from the pool lounge chairs ( mostly broken) to the gym ( small and closed during my 2 day stay) and the heated pool ( not too heated, other pools freezing) The restaurant also average as well as the 2 single rooms we got. Good breakfast and maybe one more star for the good intentions of the staff working there.
