Clean hotel, but way overpriced for what you get

I booked the Sheraton during a football Saturday. It is conveniently located by Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor. Was a bit shocked mostly at sticker price of $600 for one night. Nevertheless I took the booking. The hotel itself is clean. I was hoping to see a hotel bar where I could sit and have a late night drink but this wasn’t available. My son was also hungry around 10 PM and unfortunately there are no food options at this time. No room service and no dining option available in the late evening. They do have a small convenient store attached to the front desk with frozen meals and salads. He got a prepackaged Caesar salad which was fine. The room itself was clean and beds comfortable. A small refrigerator was available and two complementary bottles of water were there. Bathroom was nice with relatively new shower. I did want to meet Family for brunch at 10 AM and was told there is no brunch at this time available. Not even any sit down dining option at 10 AM. Breakfast closes by then so we had to move up to 930. There is a breakfast buffet which was below average. No sit-down menu option. Quality of the food including pancakes and fruit was just OK. There was an omelette station and this was good. $20 pp which was fine. In the end the hotel was fine but for $600 I expected more. It should have been about half the price considering what you get… The thought that I paid as much to stay at the Sheraton than I did at Bardessono in Yountville or Auberge in Anguilla is somewhat laughable, but nevertheless, I was the idiot who said okay.
Game Day, Ann Arbor

After the game, we checked into the Sheraton and were met by the manager, Sebastian, with the dreaded words, "I've got good news and bad news". Seems that "Hotwire" somehow overbooked the Sheraton so there was no room for us. But, Sebastian came to our rescue. He found rooms (very hard to do, game day thing) at a nearby hotel at the same level, he somehow got Hotwire to refund our non-refundable reservations, he paid for the new rooms and told us to watch the mail for a future stay voucher. What a great guy.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL IF YOU WANT A GUARANTEED RESERVATION. 5 days before the Washington game they cancelled my reservation and put me up 17 miles away from Ann Arbor after personally confirming my reservation a week earlier. Offered absolutely no support and all Sebastian, their manager, offered up was for me to write a review on trip advisor. Moreover he indicated that 40 to 50 people were facing similar issues with the hotel. Really ?? And blamed it on Marriott central reservations and not on themselves. So never book this hotel if staying in Ann Arbor is important for your event. And just terrible customer service from this hotel in numerous conversations with them.

Was our first time staying in Ann Arbor Sheraton. Came in for Astronomicon. Staff was very friendly and helpful of any and all questions. The hotel was very clean inside and outside. Beds were comfortable. They do offer breakfast but it was a little pricy for 20$ a person. Only thing I'd change is the price of the breakfast. Overall great stay would stay again if in the area.
