Absolute Dump- Stay Elsewhere!
Worst hotel I have ever stayed in- rude/incompetent manager, place stunk of cigarettes, dirty/smelly bedding and just an absolute dump! Such a shame as Annecy is beautiful and there are some lovely hotels elsewhere so... Stay elsewhere!
Watch out for your left items in the room.
I have been stolen by the person who cleans the rooms, a USB charger and a buff with the flag of valais canton, disapperared on the first day I left the room. The hotel is good for a couple of nights, the people who work at reception are good and helpful. the location is excellent, exact center of the town.
Lovely stay
I traveled with my family to Annecy in October 2016 after we completed the Mont Blanc Circuit and were looking for a nice place to rest. The hotel is right in the heart of the town close to everything. The manager of the Hotel was a really good man. Whenever we needed something, he was there to listen and help (Taxi, maps, events etc..). The amazing thing is that 2 years later, in June 2018 I returned to Annecy for the International Animation Festival with a bunch of friends. Because we didn't have any place to store our luggage in town (the place we booked had a very late check in) The manager remembered me and told me it's absolutely fine to leave our luggage in the entrance (and we had a lot of !luggage cause we were 8 people and we needed a few good hours as well!!!). He was so generous and kind to me! I highly recommend!
Quirky but superb location
OK. So i was skeptical when I booked my room at this hotel after looking at the reviews. But, it was fine and there are a lot of good things about staying here. It is RIGHT in front of the canal and a stone's throw away from the lake with all the cruise boats, the little tourist bus stop where you can take a tour of the city for about 9 Euros and all the shops and restaurants, I was a female solo traveler using the bus/train station (10 minute walk). I always felt safe and it was so nice to be close to everything. You need to be somewhat adventurous to stay here. The entrance and lobby is a bit off-putting. It is small and cramped and the furniture is old. My room was at the very top and it was a labyrinth of stairways and hallways to get up there. I don't believe there was an elevator. Even though it was a "courtyard view" it was really a view of the other roof but it was quiet (despite the bedlam outside resulting from France winning the World Cup), clean, recently renovated, with a nice well stocked bathroom and a comfortable bed. No AC but there was a new fan and I slept great. Someone always seemed to be at the front desk downstairs. Joel, the manager is a sweet, soft spoken, gentle man who was so friendly, kind and helpful. And he spoke perfect English! They did have free Wifi, but it was not advertised so I did not know about it. So, make sure you ask. There may be other hotels of comparable price but few, I think, that are so conveniently located.
Terrible experience worse hotel I have ever stayed in.
The hotel is in the centre of the Town, that’s where the positives end. It resembles a hostel that you would find in a third World Country best described as a hovel I would not recommend it to any one. The establishment needs a complete overhaul and a deep clean. The furniture and decor is old tatty and broken it’s like being in a jumble sale. Our bedding was filthy it hadn’t been washed the pillows smelt really badly and the covers were stained. The light would stay on it flicked on and off permanently the curtains were hanging off the rail as they hadn’t been fit correctly. The shower door didn’t fully open so you couldn’t fit in, there were bare wires hanging down in the hallway it was truly dreadful. We had made the booking through the booking .com web site so we phoned asking for them to get us out of there and find us some where else they were very sympathetic on the phone agreed to this. They said they would phone the hotel and speak to the management unfortunately the management refused to agree to this and instead offered us a alternative room. The second room was pretty much the same as the first the difference was the sheets had been laundered the pillows still smelt of smoke they were really old. When showering the tiles moved forward and the water ran down the back of them bare wire hung down from the ceiling light. The window sill was a piece of wood balanced on the radiator who ever does the diy and maintenance should be sacked. Be warned there is no air conditioning and it’s extremely hot a night so you have to sleep with the window open and at 5 am the bins in the town are emptied and as it’s a square and cobbled it’s exterior noisy also all the delivery trucks unload for the Town in the square so it’s impossible to sleep after 5am. Avoid at all costs to sum up it’s not cheap the only reason it’s available when everything else is booked up is beacase it’s so awful which is such a shame as the location is good and it could be made into a nice boutique hotel.
