Good price, challenging location
After some research on cheaper towns near Geneva, we settled on Annemasse. The hotel itself is good for the price: clean and modern with adequate facilities (parking, breakfast, WiFi etc.). The bus stop to Geneva is literally right outside the front door, but it is a full 40-50 minutes into downtown Geneva (4.10 euro) and the bus is often very crowded with commuters in the mornings and evenings. It made it difficult to stay in Geneva for dinner, and Annemasse itself has some good shopping but not a lot of touristy restaurants or things to do in the evening. Still, for the trade-off in price, it was worth it for us.
Classical Campanile Level at Annemasse
3-bed-room was OK, classical Campanile standard. Good breakfast buffet. Attention if you come with a car over 1,95m height. This is the maximum of the nearby garage, that has a speical price arrangement for hotel guests.Very difficult parking situation in the neighbourhood,but you can use the Hotel de Ville garage, 8 mminutes walking distance.
Dirty, noisy,troublesome for Geneva public transport, good for central Annemasse
Summary: noisy, dirty, far from Geneva, unhelpful staff. Stay in another place if you can. Cons: the hotel is in the centre of Annemasse, with many bars, thus, if you get a street view room, it will be very noisy. Quiet rooms are very limited. Contrary to their website, the room is not at all soundproof. You will hear the party in the street and whatever your neighbours are up to... There was a large disgusting stain in the carpet and many smaller ones. See photos. There were breadcrumbs in the bed! And a bunch of hair on the "fresh" towels! Very strong airfreshener sprayed in the room. Forget about paying with a 100 euro bill for breakfast: the receptionist says she will not give you all her change... When asked about wifi, the receptionist said, it was writtem on my guest card. But it was not at all. (She did not write it.) There is one choke-full bus taking you to central Geneva every half an hour. Pro: good for central Annemasse.
A good hotel from which travel to Genève
The room was the standard room of the Campanile Company, not very large, but comfortable and well climatized, with a rather comfortable bathroom: here some more hangers could help. Everything was clean. The location is very good: near the pedestrian zone and the train station, while just in front of the hotel there is the bus stop of the bus going to Genève, which is comfortable and cheap (the bus is cheap, not the city!). In the underground there is a parking, which comfortable but not cheap. The breakfast time ends at 9, but for lazy tourists (as we were) there are many boulangeries nearby, where you can eat and drink at any time.
Room theft
Stayed for 2 nights. Went out after first nights stay and when I arrived back my tablet had been stolen from my room. Contacted reception who did absolutely nothing about it. So shocking, if there was an option for zero stars I would give that. I’ll never be back
