We made the trip fun because of our group, but I would not visit again more would I recommend.
Pros: all the staff is friendly and tries to make it the best experience
1. Food for a secrets all inclusive is not good at all. Each night there was only two restaurants open and food was not good. Also they are very stingy with the options even though this is all inclusive. When you ask for more bread, it seems like a favor. They do not put baskets of bread on the table instead the give a single serving that is kids size at bet
2. Flies-there were flies everywhere from the time you woke up until about 6:30 at night, making laying poolside and eating anything outside borderline unbearable. They said it is fly season, but they are not doing anything to try and reduce. No spraying or setting up devices to detract. This was really awful
3. Preferred not with it. You have a room with some food and wine but everyone was going in this room and it was very basic compared to all other all inclusive resorts o have been to.
4. Lack of activities- every couple we met and talked to said as we did extremely disappointed in the lack of activities for guest and rather boring. They say because of COVID but I met people staying at other places on the Dutch side and did not have this experience. In reality this place had not received fully from the 2017 hurricane and should not be open under the name Secrets. I personally think it is false advertisement this place falls very short of a secrets
5. Turn down service-was not consistent and never able to reach front desk.
Sad to say, I would not recommend this resort and we will not be going back.
“The Friendly Island”
Reviewed 20 July, 2021
My husband and I spent 7 days at Secrets Resorts for a long overdue honeymoon. First thing, when we landed in St. Martin we were greeted by an Amstar representative that we scheduled to drive us to the resort. It was a great way to start our stay and we were able to get a feel for the island. Our driver gave us a great tour and information about the island on our 35 minute to the resort.
Once we arrived to the resort, we were checked in immediately and the process went very quick. The open concept in the hotel lobby is breathtaking. The resort is located in a secluded cove that is situated in between mountains. The views are incredible during the day and at night. We booked a swim up pool room with a king sized bed and an attached sitting room. The room was well cleaned every day and spacious!
The entertainment factor of the resort was very quiet BUT the staff on the resort got every one involved in activities by the pool, karaoke and live music at night. Ivan and German had a great time with guest playing pool Volleyball and entertainment at night time. The offer different activities all day long from history classes about St. Martin to exercise classes. There is something for everyone. The pool was never crowded and there were more than enough seats available. Rolinda, who is the bartender at the swim up bar is AMAZING! Her drinks are great and her personality was upbeat and happy every single day. Claude, was the bar manager and he had been in the industry for 30 years! He took care of his guests and made sure everyone felt welcome and comfortable at all times.
The restaurants were delicious. They had a steakhouse option, seafood option, pan Asian option, an Italian option and Mediterranean option. All were different in menus but excellent! I would suggest making a reservation for the hibachi table once you first arrive. We enjoyed all the options for dinner! Breakfast and lunch were never short of options at the Market Cafe. But for lunch definitely check out the Barefoot Grill. They have daily specials (get the jerked beef if available) and are delicious! We are here most days because it was so good.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Secrets Resorts at St. Martin. We were able to spend relaxing time by the beach and the pool. The best advice I can give anyone staying at the resort is to interact with the staff. With the low capacity limit it offers a great opportunity for you to get to know the people who run the resort. They are kind, welcoming through all the ups and downs they have encountered due to Covid 19. Also, we got to met some awesome people from around the world. We were able to interact with people and get to know so many different groups of people, some of which we hung out with all week. It is all about how you make you stay with the low capacity.
Secrets is okay

The resort is clean and tidy but extremely understaffed. Expect long waits for simple tasks like drink, check out, napkins. There's seems to be several single points of failure where only one person on duty knows how to complete a team like unlocking the spa locker, locating the sparking water, checking guest out. The entertainment is limited. The food is average. Stand out service from Juju at the pool and beach area. George did a great job with the morning history lesson. The yoga class was refreshing. Overall the property is fine for a quick no frills getaway. It could improve efficiency but automating some of the administrative task and allow the staff to focus more on customer service and experience.
Secrets in St Marteen

Let me start of by saying that regardless the experience at this resort , we had a great time on the island.
This resort has long ways to go... This is not the Secrets Resorts you are use to..
The staff is very friendly and they appreciate the tipps. The management and employees definitely need more training. We had to ask multiple times to get our TV , the screen door fixed. Whatever you do , don't book the swim up rooms, there is no privacy and it gets obnoxiously loud. We asked to be moved the second night and finally I had to approach the general manager after 10th night he moved us to the Marina room where we finally got to sleep the last two nights of our stay.
If you can , stay on the Marina side so you can sleep at nights. The night entertainment can get really loud, it is located at the lobby, by the main buildings and could carry over until midnight. There is no day time entertainment , just some activities by the pool.
Chef Bruno is great, having said that , they repeat the same menu at the restaurants , so it can get tiresome eating the same food. Rent a car so you can venture out of the resort and taste the local food.
In conclusion, I would wait a few years before visiting this resort, Secrets will bring them up to speed.
The "Secrets" out. Get here quick.

So, the "Secrets" out. This recently re-opened gem did not disappoint. Location, Anse Marcel (French side), gorgeous. The grounds beautiful. The rooms, fantastic. The staff, let’s just say, make this place everything and more.
There were so many negative reviews for this property on different social media sites prior to our arrival. What many people failed to mention, in their negative reviews, is that they just re-opened in April. There is still a fair amount of training going on within the various departments of the resort, however, anything you asked for was taken care of quickly and with a smile.
Claude, the Bar manager, is amazing. I mean that is a huge reason us travelers attend AI's, drinks, drinks, and more drinks. His Bar staff, all of them were great, went out of their way to make any concoction you could dream up. If you go, hit up the pool bar, get with Benton and ask for a BS. Benton Special, lol. It is great.
The second reason most of us patronize AI's is the food. The selection here is great. We were able to attend all of the Restaurants and sample most of the items. The Buffet, the Weapon of Weight Gain, did not disappoint. Great selections and fresh. Room service was fresh, fast, and flavorful.
The rooms. We had a Marina Swim Out. Amazing. If swim out fits your budget, go for it, if not, the largest pool in the eastern Caribbean is on property. What else could you ask for. Housekeeping was always there ready to spruce up your room upon exit and never intrusive.
Nightly entertainment is not like you will find at Breathless, so if that is your thing this is not your spot. The entertainment department was fun and engaging and gets you involved if you want to be, unlike others where you have to shew them away like vendors on the beach. I will say, if you are looking for a mega resort style Secrets like you find in Mexico, then this might not be your place. But if you are looking for laid back vacation spot, with beautiful beaches on property and surrounding, then go for it.
We have been to many AI's in the Caribbean and Mexico. I literally felt like I was home. I did not want to leave; unlike most times I spend 7-8 nights at a place. So much to see and do on the Island.
To let everyone, know, this is written from mine and my wife's personal opinions, and I was not offered, nor do I expect any compensation for its composure or submittal, although I would gladly accept if they wanted to sweeten the deal for next time. Had my eye on that Presidential Suite, wink wink.
Regardless, we will return, and will return to Secrets.
Thank You to everyone, to many people to name, at and Secrets St. Martin for making our stay so memorable and enjoyable for our 10-year anniversary. We hope to see you all again soon.
