Magnificent - heaven on earth !!
One of the most beautiful hotels we’ve ever been. The staff is THE very best, they are so friendly and helpful in every single way you can possibly imagine. The rooms are just one of a kind, nicely furnished, very very clean, we got some beautiful wild flowers from the garden in our bathroom and they even hang our clothes, isn’t this heaven ? The food in the restaurant is delicious (try the 7-courses dinner- signature of the chef), they use everything they harvest in their own garden. Breakfast with Nadia is so amusing (we really like her accent and her stories), Merko knows a lot about wines and good Prosecco, we trusted on his knowledge and he let us taste some really good ones. Helena, the general manager is a very kind lady who showed us the whole property on our arrival (even her little zoo with the chickens and goats). She’s very dedicated to please all the guests. We will certainly return here 👌🏻
Beautiful and fabulous stay!
Let me begin by saying we were heartbroken to leave Badia Pomaio. The drive down the picturesque mountain on the edge of Arezzo felt like leaving family. This last full week of October was the last week before they close the resort for the season. When we arrived, there was one older couple who stayed for one night and when we left 4 days later another overnight couple had arrived for one night. For most of our time there we were the sole guests. We were treated like royalty the entire time. We know that during high time, the staff’s attention would be stretched, however I am certain that we would feel equally special even then. The hotel is gorgeous and tranquil. The views from the property are unbelievable. This restored abbey has all of the modern conveniences and superb design of a luxury resort with the character of a moment in history. Elena, the manager has done an amazing job of restoring the previous hotel and former Abbey by modernizing everything and adding a gorgeous bar to the historic building. The grounds are lovely, highlighting the kitchen garden, a heated infinity pool (which we would have definitely used had I not forgotten my swimsuit!), lounging chairs located to enjoy views, sunsets, and the stars. As we slid into the comfortable bed we were lulled to sleep by reading aloud the nightly printed bedtime story left on our bed evoking legends regarding the Abby. The staff was simply amazing. Davide was extremely helpful and sent us on our day trips armed with information on where to park, restaurant recommendations, and alternative things to do around the area. Sweet Nadia greeted us every morning to introduce the amazing breakfast display and asked about our sightseeing the day before, happily practicing her English and reminiscing about her earlier years living in the US. Mario provided friendly conversation and is the on-site sommelier who gave us a wonderful pre-dinner Tuscan wine tasting when we knew it was going to rain later that day and we would be returning back early for the evening. The meals at Badia Pomaio are simply exquisite and were among our most favorites of our trip to Florence and central Tuscany. The dinner service was fabulous and the chef lives up to his Michelin Star. The wine selection is extensive. The morning chef prepared the best frittatas (recommended by Nadia) that I will continue to dream about on cool weekend mornings. The breakfast buffet was scrumptious and includes seasonal goodies from the garden, Tuscan cheeses and charcuterie, yogurts and fresh toppings, cereals, house made chestnut honey and cakes, breads. Truly impressive. The only negative thing we have to say is that after exploring the hilltop towns we wished we had more time to enjoy the property and it’s amenities...the outdoor terrace, pool and bar. I would recommend reserving one day to relax on site. I sure wish we did!! If you are looking for a beautiful base camp to see Tuscany, this is your spot! Thank you all for a dream vacation!
Excellent, truly excellent,
Excellent, truly excellent ! My wife and I have been staying in some of the finest chateau hotels in both France and Italy for nearly twenty five years. We have now found the very best. Based on a very old monastery, this hotel now incorporates an extremely modern very tasteful extension that has chic, style and sophistication. Nothing can be faulted. Just a few miles outside Arezzo, the hotel has stunning views over the valley with Arezzo nestling in the bottom. The manager, Elena, has trained her staff to the very highest level that way exceeds the service we have received anywhere else. Let me cite one example, although I hope for Mario's sake that he makes it a one off unique service ! My wife and I were in the pool ( an infinity pool, the best we have tried anywhere ). Mario came to take our order for poolside drinks. We ordered two G & T's. As he walked back to the bar, I remembered the truly fabulous smoothies that they served, so I ordered a lime, ginger and cinnamon one. When he returned with the two G & T's a few minutes later, there was no smoothie ; I expect that it was missing due to taking longer to make, and probably by the kitchen staff ? Mario rushed off to get it. Upon returning to the pool to the pool a few minutes later, and stopping only to take his shoes and watch off, he descended the pool steps fully clothed and walked the length of the pool to bring me my smoothie on a silver tray ! If there has ever been any service any better I've never heard of it. We shall be returning again and again.
Fine dining in a stylish ambience above the lights of Arezzo
The menu has nice variety of dishes based on the tuscan tradition, but in a modernised way. Some ingredients are coming from the garden nearby. We decided to go with the degustation set and it turned out to be interesting and pleasant experience, the food was delicious. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor areas. Outdoors you can experience not only the food, but also fantastic tuscan sunsets. The place was fool of locals which is always a good sign. Hip bar area with the glass roof.
WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR !!
I've been with my family in the Hotel Badia di Pomaio to take a break from city life. We got what we wanted to !!. We had such an amazing stay, we enjoyed all the green that sorrounds the hotel and we loved the breathtaking view where you can admire the city of Arezzo. On top of that, we had the pleasure to taste the traditional Tuscany food enriched with Chef Cannella's touch added to the professionalism and kindness of the stuff on the floor (Managers and Waiters). A very confortable place that I suggest to who want to stay away from the noises of the city and get refreshed from clear air. For sure you guys will see me and my family again. Thank you so much Vincenzo
