Kind Minos Hotel

Like a previous reviewer, I was a member of a Travel Department tour and stayed in a similar room close to the car park. I made sure to keep the window tightly closed at night and I avoided the bar beside the swimming pool in the evening as nearly everyone got mosquito bites. Fortunately we did not have eighty Dutch teenagers taking over the restaurant. The breakfasts were good and the dinners in the evening were eatable but unexciting. Bear in mind that this is a family-run hotel.

When we arrived, we had a cheerful welcome by a very professional lady who spoke French. We were upgraded to a suite on top of the building: very roomy an comfortable with a fantastic view of the sea. We had an outstanding breakfast with a large selection of products. We strongly recommend this place.

we were on a Travel Dept tour of ancient Greece.The hotel had 80 Dutch teenagers staying which made the restaurant feel like a school canteen as its all buffet. My room was modernised but the terrace was in the car park. The breakfast was very good but dinner really poor very poor quality and very limited choice..Most of the group ate out after the first night. Its a long drive to the sights in the region sometimes 6 hours in the bus in total so the location was not ideal. The hotel was good overall except for the evening meal.

This hotel is outstanding. We booked it because the hotel we had planned to take sold out suddenly - at the time my partner and I were quite disappointed but it was definitely a happy mistake as Hotel King Minos was wonderful. First to the positives, of which there are many. Firstly the rooms. We were lucky enough to have a balcony room and the view was absolutely beautiful (this photo shows it well: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g1007321-d250736-Reviews-Hotel_King_Minos-Tolon_Argolis_Region_Peloponnese.html#photos;aggregationId=&albumid=101&filter=7&ff=223332114). For this part of our journey we were trying to take it easy so did not get up early enough for the sunrise but I imagine it would be stunning. The room was a very good size, with plenty of space for us and our luggage. It comes with a safe which we made use of; you can get a key from reception. The room was simply decorated, with nice wooden furniture (some hotels overdo it with, er, unique decorating, which is not my thing). The bathroom looked pretty fancy and it had a bath as well as a shower - typically we stay in cities that don't have room for baths so I always feel like it's a treat to get one in a hotel. The shower has good heat/pressure and is simple to use. The room was also very clean and had good air conditioning, so we didn't melt in the 35 degree heat. I think there was also a fridge, too, but we didn't use that and it might have been empty (i.e. not a minibar). There was a TV but we didn't make use of that so I've no idea what the channels were like. The rest of the hotel was also outstanding. The staff couldn't do enough for us, answering all of our questions in perfect English (as a Brit who makes an effort but does not speak much Greek, this was appreciated). They let us check out at 14:00 instead of 12 for no extra cost, which made our day much easier as we wanted to go to the beach. This was really kind, but they may not have the capacity to offer this if the hotel is really full. They have a postbox next to reception where you can deposit your postcards for them to post for you later. The pool is lovely and it definitely looked bigger in real life compared to what we saw on the site we booked through. It was plenty big enough to have a good swim in (though it does get busy at times). We most enjoyed swimming in the evening once it got a bit quieter and when the sun wasn't quite so aggressive. Apparently there is also a There is a poolside bar where you can get a wide variety of drinks and order food from a bar menu - the restaurant inside has more choices, though it didn't look very open when we walked past. The breakfast has a good variety of sweet and savoury options, including plenty to keep me happy as a vegetarian. There is a proper coffee machine and they make their own orange juice fresh on site - you can really taste the difference. The surrounding area is also lovely. The beach is nice, not too busy in late June/early July, and you can rent a boat from Telis Boats (easily findable on the beach). They can get full up, though, so make sure you book in advance if you have a particular time you want to go. There are loads of good places to eat nearby (if you don't want to eat at the hotel). We liked Maria's, which has a lovely view in the daytime and great food/service all the time. Tolo has lots of places to buy quality souvenirs - we bought a lovely olive wood juicer. The bus to Nafplio goes just up from the hotel (2 minutes away) and it's pretty reliable. They go roughly every hour from 7ish in the morning to about 16:00 and then they become a bit less frequent. The journey takes about 30 minutes depending on which route the bus takes and it costs just under two Euros per journey. In terms of negatives, there are two small ones. The WIFI was OK, but not the best, and did cut out a few times. My partner and I had agreed not to do too much work whilst on this holiday but we still ended up needing to do a bit, so this was slightly annoying, but nothing a quick reset couldn't fix. I also found the walk from the hotel to the beach a bit slippery. I was wearing sandals which were fine in Athens but apparently not quite grippy enough for Tolo and fell at the junction of Tsouderou and Sekeri, coming home with a souvenir bruise on my knee! Take care on this path - I definitely wouldn't attempt it in heels. Overall, though, these were very minor quibbles and I still score this hotel 5 out of 5. I would most definitely go back to this hotel and look for others run by the same family. This is especially the case as we paid only about £50 per night for our stay. Hotel King Minos really is a bargain.

I stayed here with a friend - we had a twin room with a sea view and it was awesome! It was a spectacular panoramic view - get up at 5am and snap the sunrise! There I was clicking away and I looked round and about 6 others were doing the same. The room was spacious and very comfortable and clean. The cleaners were very friendly and polite and did a great job. We had breakfast in the hotel - a great choice of tasty food and the option of having dinner there - again first class food. The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful and treated everyone like royalty. I felt so special - I will definitely go back. Thank you to Argiris, Kostas and Anthi and their wonderful team!
