Perfect location in Arles
Located right in the center of town but in a quiet street this charming recently renovated and redecorated boutique hotel was perfect for our 1 night stay in Arles. We will gladly return as we only managed a glimpse of the city
Very Good
This hotel has been sympathetically modernised as it originally was a convert. Its now a modern boutique type of hotel very central and within the old town. We stayed in room 50 on the first floor.. Be aware this hotel has no lift and t is 2 flights of stairs just to the first floor! Our room was spacious, very clean with a modern style shower.. Water was always hot and the toiletries of a good quality. You receive a jar of fresh water on arrival but thereafter you buy your own or use the tap water.. For the price I felt this was somewhat mean that they did not replenish your water each day, especially as there are no tea/coffee facilities in the rooms. Breakfast is typical continental so you will always find something to eat.. Quality of produce and fresh orange juice is very good.. My concerns in the dining area, no serviette or cloth is provided for you to cover the fresh bread which you cut yourself. Each day l took a serviette from a table to ensure my hands were not all over the bread.. There should be a cloth provided as unhygienic otherwise. The hotel is pet friendly which I do not have a problem with being a dog owner myself, however I do not like to see dogs in the dining area (on one occasion there were 2) this is definitely not allowed in the UK. Also when a client had finished the table was sprayed with a strong cleanser, not very pleasant when you are still eating breakfast! Tables are very close to each other. However this said, the reception staff and cleaning staff are delightful and very helpful.. Staff on breakfast duty are mostly very friendly also! We would definitely like to return here but for the price you pay one or two things do need attention.
Lovely hotel and rooms; very poor customer service.
We did a six day tour of the area and as this was the final night decided to push the boat out. We were left very disappointed. The hotel is in a perfect location and the styling and the attention to detail ( comfy bed, loads of space, great shower and lovely toiletries) is stunning. The staff just did not seem to care. All a bit sullen and unhelpful. No help was offered with the bags and no useful info was given. The waitress at breakfast did her job but that was it. She didn’t make us feel welcome or check in if we needed anything else. Such a shame as if the service was as good as the aesthetic I would be giving it a five star review. We would also have liked tea/ coffee facilities. Sadly I would not recommend or return.
Shame the roof top bar was closed
One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was we l7ked 5ne idea of a roof top bar with a view to enjoy a drink before dinner. Apparently it is only open in July and August but we didn't know this until we arrived. The other reason we chose to stay here wad the free use of bikes. Unfortunately one of them was not fit to use. The handlebars didn't turn properly. The other bike had a seat that couldn't be adjusted and wad too high for me. One of the staff did try to adjust it but couldn't so we had to abandon our plans to cycle to the Van Gogh bridge along the canal. The hotel is in a good position for exploring the centre of Arles and not too far to walk from the railway station, which weeks when we arrived. Our bed was comfortable and the room wad quiet but too dark. The bathroom was brightly lit and well equipped with a good shower. Shower gel, shampoo and a bar of soap were provided. They all smelled lovely. I would have expected coffee making facilities in the room for the price we paid.
Very good but could be better
This is a very stylish, lovely boutique hotel in the old town of Arles. The decor is beautiful and has some magnificent details. It’s set in the cloisters of the nearby Saint Trophime and the terrace is especially lovely. Great bed and good sized bathrooms and rooms. The staff are lovely and helpful and it’s a great location to explore from. However, there are a few things that aren’t so good - the parking is a way off in a public building so luggage ferrying isn’t ideal. The hotel does offer a discounted rate for the building though, so that’s a bonus. Be warned there is no elevator in the hotel and lots of stairs so be prepared! The other disappointing trend that seems to be happening in hotels is no coffee or tea making facilities in the room. It’s all fine to steer your guests toward buying coffee in the hotel, but it’s not so good if you wake up early and want a cup of coffee and you can’t make it yourself or find someone to make it for you. I do think that when you’re paying a reasonable rate for a room, a kettle at the very least, should be supplied. The same with toiletries - as a traveller you don’t want to have to lug shampoo and soap around with you and it would be very handy if hotels would be a little bit more generous with their bathroom amenities. We had one small hand soap over two nights here and could have done with a bit more. If you’re a light sleeper, you also might want to ask for a room that doesn’t face the little terrace, as the rubbish collection woke us at 5.30am. Other than those fairly minor gripes, the stay was lovely.
