More about the hotel
Great Front Desk!
Stayed here for one nice for an early flight the next morning. Very good customer service, especially the front desk staffer, who went above and beyond. The rooms were clean and had additional cleaning measures for COVID.
Dated
The Hilton Crystal city is really in an airport hotel oasis. It is very close to DCA airport so very convenient from perspective. The downside you are in a building canyon with very little to do unless you want to catch a Metro to downtown or perhaps Old Town. The Hilton Crystal city feels dated with heavy furniture. But it was comfortable and had a very reasonable rate (I can not vouch for the parking cost).
Super friendly and great location
The hotel was very clean as was our room. They have taken a lot of measures to protect from Covid. The entire staff was very friendly. The hotel was a short walk from several restaurants and the airport shuttle was super easy.
Hilton Reagan
Hotel is in a great location proximate to many restaurants, businesses and the Pentagon. Rooms are a bit tired but still clean and the staff was very nice. Only 3 elevators, I mention this because there was a large group of children staying at hotel and in the mornings and evenings elevators and lobby space were at a premium. Executive lounge had a nice hot breakfast in the morning and decent appetizers in the evening.
Mostly excellent service at an average property
First, the good aspects: for the most part, the service here is outstanding! The hotel shuttle drivers are friendly, warm and extremely gracious about driving guests to places within a mile or so of the property. Getting picked up or dropped off at Reagan National is exceptionally easy, as is being transported to and from the metro and nearby restaurants. That's a much-appreciated benefit. I had a problem with getting my email to send from my laptop and Shikeeb patiently helped me, even though that's not his dedicated responsibility. I needed a firmer pillow and I asked the housekeeper in the hallway if when she got to my room she could deliver one, and she did, along with a bath mat I had requested. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful and the first day we had breakfast in the Relish restaurant, the service was great. By being tipped off ahead of time which rooms faced away from the highway, the room we selected was exceptionally quiet. Now for the not-so-great parts: the property itself is nothing memorable; it's simply acceptable. It's not the usual caliber of a Hilton. Nothing is wrong with it; it's just okay. And if I had had to pay the regular daily rate, I would have felt gouged. The service in the Relish restaurant the second day we were there was truly awful. If not for an attentive server not assigned to our table, we would have sat without coffee and without a menu for who knows how long. The server assigned to our table essentially ignored us, even after a request for a menu, except for bringing us the check. Very disappointing, but thank you, server not assigned to our table! All in all, I would say this property is not worthy of being a first choice for this area. But as a back-up or overflow hotel, it's perfectly fine, primarily because of highly attentive, professional staff members.
