Sad I see hotel go downhill

Reviewed 29 october, 2021

I’ve stayed here almost annually for many years. I won’t return. No housekeeping available. It took five minutes (I counted) to get hot water in the sink. Carpets paper thin. Some of the wall outlets and lamps didn’t work. One elevator for five floors. (Not new, but a growing concern.) Not even a plastic bag insert for the ice bucket. No indication of any steps taken for cleanliness. (Note the ‘no ice bucket insert’). Now that there are more hotels in downtown I’ll go somewhere else the next time.

Bad stay - with little notice water off in hotel for 6 hours & large roach killed in the room

Reviewed 10 october, 2021

When I booked, I was not aware that there would be construction at the hotel. When I got home and looked on booking.com I did not see any clear construction notice. While at the hotel when we woke up on Friday, Oct 8th, we saw a notice under the door that water would be cut off from 11 am to 5 pm. Because it was raining heavily. we spent most of the day in the hotel room, and had to use the bathroom several times, with very unpleasant results. Has to go to the front desk to get bottled water to wash our hands. Also that night we kill a roach that was over an inch long that crawled over our snacks. The A/C was noisy and we were either too warm or too cold. We were on the fourth floor of the hotel, so figured the room was unclean since we also received a notice of no housecleaning during our three day stay. We are frequent travelers and this was one of our worst hotel stays ever. We don't normally give bad reviews but this was a cat 5 hotel and considering everything, the stay deserves a bad rating. The only good part of it was that the front desk was very courteous, but I told them I had a complaint with no comment from their side.

Best value for the area

Reviewed 7 october, 2021

I searched almost all the nearby hotels for the cost and location. This one was the best. However, lower cost means less fancy. The hotel was in the right location for walking the city and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself is an older property and undergoing some heavy construction at times. That didn't bother us. They put out warnings and you can't blame them for wanting to upgrade. The room was typical. There had been some light renovation at some time and they did the bathroom, although I think they could have done a much better job. The real complaint I had about the room was the arm chair in the corner. It had a hug rip on the top of one arm. Very shabby. Just throw it out. No one needs it anyway! And, my other "beef" was that they are still not cleaning the rooms or even entering them. We had to put our garbage out and go down to the front desk for fresh supplies, including towels. I wish I had received some sort of credit for keeping my room cleaned and supplied! We paid for it! Plus, what is the real difference...the cleaning person comes in after we checked out to get it ready for the next guest. Why exactly can't they come in the room when we are not there??? It's silly, but I guess this is the new norm. Pay the say, get less.

Great stay, great location

Reviewed 19 august, 2021

We are actually still here on day 3 of a 5 day stay, but have been so pleased, we felt like putting in our review now. Our room is clean and modern, right next to the pool, and we couldn't be happier. Pros: location, location, location... but also need to note - in times like these when good help is hard to find - everyone here has been so friendly and accommodating... that includes front desk, maid service, and restaurant.
