Thin floors and no sleep.

Reviewed 6 december, 2021

The location was fantastic, the staff were very helpful, and the building itself was beautiful. The selection of snacks in the lobby was also primo. The downside, though, was that the floor above us was super thin--we heard everything the people upstairs were doing, from casually walking around, to doing laundry, to arguing, to having sex. My wife and I stayed for 2 of our 3 planned nights and probably slept an average of 4 hours a night before checking out early and going somewhere else. It was just impossible to sleep well. On a related note, although I know it's a historic building and so this might be expected, the street noise coming up from Broadway was pretty incredible. There did not appear to be internal or external storms on the windows, which is something management might think about adding to make the stays a little more relaxing. A final comment: the staff allowed us to check out early at no cost, which was nice, but we were not offered any sort of compensation for our poor experience the two previous nights. I've never asked for a room to be comped--it was our decision to stay--but this is one case where it would have been appropriate, because are no noise disclaimers that I can find on the hotel's website. It felt like a massive bait-and-switch.

Outstanding, small, boutique hotel in downtown Asheville

Reviewed 1 november, 2021

Outstanding rooms accompanied by excellent service by all the staff we encountered. The room was spacious with beautiful furniture and decor. Room had a separate bedroom with a living room, full kitchen and small table for two. While there is no restaurant on site, there are numerous fine restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. The location downtown is perfect if you want to walk to all the shops, restaurants, wine shops or breweries. The hotel is on the expensive side ( we stayed mid October) but it is well worth it!

Not as expected

Reviewed 12 october, 2021

I prefer small hotels, and applaud historic renovations. We wanted to be in the heart of downtown Asheville, so the Windsor seemed ideal. The photos looked like quirky elegant. Our room (205) was, at best, shabby chic. The windows in both rooms opened into a narrow air shaft, which meant they were perpetually dim, and the lamps didn't help much. The shower control had a mind of its own--it would gush cold water until you found just the right spot at which point it was hot. The dresser (definitely vintage) drawers were sticky. The "vanity" was a single basin with room for two toothbrushes at best. The staff was pleasant and tried to be helpful as when we pointed out the safe would not lock. It was not fixed during our three day stay. Does this seem petty? Well not when one is paying over $600 per weekend night. BTW I rarely review, but the manager asked me to "please review on Trip Advisor" so I'm obliging.

Lovely Hotel

Stayed here for my Wedding Anniversary recently, very pleased with the choice. Great location in downtown Asheville - convenient for shops, restaurants, bars, and all that Asheville has to offer. The room was exactly what we wanted - a beautiful living area separate from the bedroom, as well as a dining/kitchen facility - all beautifully decorated and furnished. Really enjoyable stay, would recommend the Hotel highly, and will definitely look to return.
