BEST, reasonably priced hotel in Athens

This hotel is brand new and completed to a very high standard. If I talk about all the positives I could write a whole book but the best part is the lovely service by the Managment especially the manager Ms. Iro. There is high speed WiFi available as well as free parking right outside. The toilets are great with rain shower head and Netflix, Amazon prime etc on the smart TV in the room. All rooms also have balcony which is a great addition for smokers or just to get some fresh air and enjoy the view. The hotel is also very central and 2 mins walk from the metro although you can walk to most places in central Athens from here easily anyway. In conclusion I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice stay while here in Athens and it is defo the best hotel in the area even better than the supposed 5 star Wyndham next door. MUST STAY IF YOU ARE VISITING ATHENS 10/10 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

We rented a flat - full AC and lift, free parking, cable tv and wifi - kitchen IS fully équiped but PS Restaurant 20 légers away IS Also a gem for home cooking and fast food, inluding Bkfast - possibility to have breakfast in pâtisserie nearby - Yanis at the réception IS truely a gem - restaurant and police stations nearby - reasonable Price - good beds and fournitures, but cleaning could ilprove. All is Brand New though. The back streets are overtaken by crackheads which make the area . The apartments are on a busy roundabout but noisepeoof Windows are effective - 12 mn walk to Plaka Ermou or Central market. 5 mn from.Omonia roundabout - Plenty of cafés or restaurants, grocery shops and even a launfry accross thé street Probably a hidden gem, just avoid backstreets at night.
Abusive hotel owner, cigarette smoke smells in rooms, neighbourhood unsafe at night. Terrrible experience.

The smell of cigarettes in the appartment, in the reception was terrible. The walls of the appartment were so thin the noise from next door appartment kept us awake due to cheap finishing. Constantly being awoken by yelling from next door units and flushing of toilets. The first appartment we booked the shower was broken. New appartment we were given had no cable TV and had no lounge room area even though we paid for the two b/r appartment and we got no discount. Lock to the door of second appartment did not work well. The lock to get into the hotel was faulty. The owner of the hotel came over and was abusive and actually yelled at us to our face in a tirade that lasted minutes then he literally threw the keys at us. Even though the faulty lock to get into the hotel was not our fault. Neighbourhood is dicey and a bit divy. Graffiti and drug addicts and homeless addled area.We advise never ever stay at Meni appartments in Athens. Smell of cigarette smoke, the noise the abusive owner. Only good thing was hot water and one manager Iro who was nice but other staff appeared cowed by this abusive owner.Never in our lives have we experienced such yelling and aggression from an owner and the owner abusing us. Then throwing a set of keys at us and storming off. It’s unacceptable. On our last day, we saw police cars slam to a halt not far from the hotel (not really a hotel, flat or appartments at best) and police with guns drawn went into nearby building. My wife was scared venturing out at night too far from where stayed. Overall a terrible experience. Take a tip: there are plenty of better units or hotels to stay at in Athens. Steer clear.

We were disappointed in the amount of space in the living room. One bedroom had a closet, but only two hangers. The other had no space to unpack, no closet or dresser. Tjhe beds were comfortable, clean, and the wifi was great. We never cooked in the room. Instead, we had great breakfasts at the nearby Bread Factory. Cabs were easy to find, in front of the nearby Wyndom Hotel. Cab fare into the tourist area is about 5E - don't pay more. Negotiate before you get in. Cab from the airport is 38E - seems to be a fixed rate. There was good air conditioning, no iron, no coffee maker. You won't go wrong staying here, but it's nothing fancy. It was only two blocks from the hop off hop on buses which you can use for transportation.

So here is where it begins.. housekeeping walks in whenever they want as they say there is a problem in the bathroom then come back again with one of the family members who own the building, again with no notice. (this is not a hotel, so no secondary lock to not let them in. they want to know what you are doing). BTW there was nothing wrong in the bathroom. We come back later to check out and are told that there is damage in the room and are shown that a wall light was loose and we caused it(WE DID NOT DAMAGE ANYTHING) and they want $50 euros to replace it. After several minutes of arguing over this with the father(owner) who doesn't speak English. We used the front desk person to translate nothing was going to change. So we were extorted an additional $50 Euros for something that was not damaged which if had checked out originally wouldn't have mattered. This place is family owned so watch what you are getting into as everyone is in on it.
