Close & Clean Budget Accommodation

Location on Symonds St is great, particularly if visiting Auckland or AUT Universities. You do have to climb down 2 steep flights of stairs to reception, so I am glad I travelled light. Room was clean with basic amenities (towel, soap etc) provided. Reasonably quite. Kitchenette was miniscule, more suited for warming takeaways rather than cooking.

There were three of us sharing two rooms at this apartment building but the management was unable to put us as neighbor and we would need to share the bathroom and pantry area with stranger even our bookings were under the same booking number. In addition, the rooms at this apartment building were more like those small "apartments" in Hong Kong where you could only fit in your luggage and yourself. At the end, we checked out right after dinner and paid for another accommodation instead to avoid this awkward feeling to grow stronger and ruin our impression of New Zealand.
Worse place I've stayed in Auckland

I'm not usually a very picky person and have stayed at numerous backpackers but this has to be the worse value for money. Would never stay here again and would have rather stayed in a dorm or backpackers. Old interior, unclean, felt uncomfortable just lying in the bed.
Blown Away by the Art

A visit to the University Art Museum on Princeton's campus takes you from ancient Egypt to contemporary art. Each floor contains rare and unique artwork from all over the world. The scuptures, paintings and stone work are all authentic, much of it donated by Princeton alumni. Plan to spend at 2 hours to see works by many well known artists from every time period. Also, The museum guards are very friendly and helpful. There is a special exhibit by Frank Stella that should not be missed.
Dorm Room, functional and Basic
Reviewed 19 march, 2018
This accommodation is just basic, its basically a college dorm room. Right nearby the Auckland University, the apartment is nearby bus stations, convenience stores and places to eat. Starbucks is just opposite it and the Japanese Restaurant below smells good. Stayed here for two nights on non sequential nights. One common thing is the bed was rather uncomfortable for two to sleep on. Mattress and pillows was rather thin. The Sink in the bathroom was extremely small. Kept bumping our heads on the sink mirror cabinet which sits right on top of the sink. First night the room smelled a little bit musty and opening the windows to sleep caused the wind to rattle the pipping in the plaster ceiling. Second night the room was fine but the drainage in the shower was clogged. All basic amenities were provided and a small fully functional kitchen was provided for cooking. Just note although the listing says no parking there is actually parking at the back of the apartments. Overnight parking is NZD 15 and there are limited spaces. It beats finding car park elsewhere. The car park though is on a very steep street. Parking and getting stuff out of the car would be a hassle. There is no free wifi here as well. Staff was pretty helpful but we didn't interact much.
