A true 3 star Hotel...
Reviewed 3 february, 2017
It is really a 3 star Hotel. Good... if only for one night! Infrastructure is good for 3 star, but much more, better and nicer could be done. Staff is friendly, helpful, but clearly not sufficiently well trained, or maybe not trained at all... Clearly a Hotel that lacks proper ownership and/or management. Antonio Vieira da Silva
Good for one night

The hotel is good if you just need a hotel for one night. It is right next to the street, so you will hear some traffic noise. The room (at least the one we got) is small and overloaded (2 beds, 1 Sofa-chair and a desk. The breakfast is good and you get free Wifi and Parking. Positive - free Wifi - free Parking - Cheap B&B price - very friendly staff - nice furnitures and decoration Negative - dirty carpet - mold in the bathroom (ceiling)
A nice hotel for one night

A small and nice hotel, but not in Aveiro! It is some 7 km to the north, in a place called Cacia. Our room was quite small (the bathroom was like 2/5 of the room), but this time all we needed was a place to stay. The room doors are still old and don't stop the sounds from the hallway (but, in general, the hotel was quiet). Also, light was coming in under the door. The bathroom and maybe the bed are renovated i. e. new, the rest is old. Helpful staff, not very proficient in English or Spanish, but willing to help.
Budget hotel, you get what you pay for

We've staid at Joao Padeiro for a single night during a weekend trip to the region. We were looking for a budget hotel and this one came as one of the top choices in booking. The hotel itself is located close to some industrial facilities outside Aveiro. When wind turns the wrong direction, the air in the street can be quite smelly and we can vouch that... To the hotel itself. Staff at the reception were helpful both during check in and check out. Rooms have been refurbished, so flat screen and AC are available. the bathroom was also good sized and looked fairly recent. Only complaint is that the carpet seemed to be dirty and that the shower head wasn't functioning properly. Breakfast quality is average at best. Small choice and poor quality comparing with other 3-star hotels we've staid in the past.
Not a place to stay

The hotel is newly renovated, but they have used part of the old furniture. The staff are very nice but has not been trained at all. They have not a clue how to run an hotel. The rooms are small, the madrass was horrible, and the lights are just terrible, cold white and not enough. The bathroom was new and good. The hotel is situated at the side of heavily traffic road and even in the back rooms you can hear the traffic noise. In the morning you can hear the staff preparing the breakfast and when they connect the exaust fan, it is time to go out of bed. In the village there is a pulp factory and if the wind is blowing from that direction, the smell is terrible. The food at the restaurant is quite good and at a reasonable price, but once again the staff has not been trained for the task. Nearby there are equally good or better restaurants and in Aveiro there are much better hotels. Please pay attention when you make your reservation, because if you have to leave the hotel earlier than planned they will charge you for all the nights you have booked for.
