A great stay!

We stayed at Les Portails Bleus for two nights and it was perfect. The hosts Wouter and Lotte know what they are doing. The location is perfect and the rooms are lovely. The food was great and the fact that Wouter is a sommelier really adds to the service provided. We felt welcome and the beds sleep amazing. We will be back.

Lovely B&B with passionate hosts

Absolutely loved our stay at Les Portails Bleus. This was the fourth time I stayed here and I am always impressed by the passion and hospitality of the owners. They’re very knowledgeable about the region, and its fantastic wines. The location and rooms itself keep improving every year. Can’t wait to go again!

Stop on route

We stopped at Les portailles bleu for one night on our way down to the south of France. The b&b is situated on the edge of the very pretty village with views of the vineyards all around. It is run by a young Dutch couple who bought it 3 years ago and are busy running the business and renovating the property. They have 5 rooms all individually themed, we were in lavender. The rooms are spacious and very quaint with a large bathroom. Lotte was on her own when we were there as Wouter had had to go back to Holland but she was extremely hospitable and welcoming. Lotte does all the cooking , I had emailed her beforehand to warn her that I was a vegetarian and she produced a very tasty meal ( quite a difficult feat in Burgandy!) we ate in a cosy little room with a log burner and their cat curled up next to it purring contentedly. They also have a beautiful Bernese mountain dog who escapes at every opportunity to greet the guests! She told me in the summer they have a long table outside in the garden where all the guests sit and they have BBQs, I bet that’s great fun. Breakfast is warm croissants, homemade jams, yogurt, cheese and ham and cooked eggs if you want them. All in all great value for your money. This is a real find and I’d recommend that you stop here if you’re doing a wine trip or even if you’re not.

A charming place to stay in Burgundy

Reviewed 17 september, 2018

We had a wonderful overnight stay with Wouter & Lotte, including a delicious dinner with fabulous local wines and a great breakfast. Our room was decorated with such loving attention to detail - with historic charm but up-to-the-minute comforts such as a brand-new bathroom. The perfect place to stay while exploring Burgundy!

Passionate hosts, excellent food, memories to last!

I stayed at Les Portails Bleus with a group of artists. We had both breakfast and dinner at the B & B. Impressive level of attention to the food and wine component of this B & B. Wouter’s in depth knowledge of wine and his superb recommendations and Lotte’s cooking skills and immensely warm personality set this B & B apart from others I have visited. Their lively and welcoming personalities and passionate attention to the running of the place was also much appreciated. The last night Lotte and Wouter hosted a large barbecue for all the workshop artists. The experience went beyond what I normally expect from a typical B & B. I also felt I had a truly authentic Burgundy experience. Thanks Lotte and Wouter and the all the wonderful animals around the place for a memorable experience. Mary
