Casa Simeon

My sister and her friends stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and i was fortunate to spend some time with them here. The first thing you will notice is the old architecture further accentuated by the lights giving it a mysterious glow. It is like being transported to the past. But do not be fooled, the rooms are all equipped with the modern amenities such as ACU, hot and cold shower, TV. Located right at the poblacion of Bacacay, this hotel is not difficult to find. Others find it spooky, but if you want to experience living in an old house, then try this hotel

So, i had a family trip here in bacacay, albay and i found this historical and beautiful hotel. When you enter the premises you will feel that pre spanish vine with gives you that nostalgic presence of the old times. The interrior is beautiful preserving its original and quite elegand look. The staff were exceptional junilyn the front office manager is really polite and welcoming she is al very knowleadgable about the place. I would recommend casa simeon for a beautiful and wonderful stay also a bonus view of mount mayon when you wake up. Thank you casa simeon definitely will comeback.

We only stayed one night here, and so I can't comment on the location and how handy it is. We wanted to do some hiking, and it was perfectly located for that. (And we had a great guide, Herbert.) And, I imagine that it is also well-located for ATV-ing. The house is absolutely splendid - beautifully maintained wooden panelling and flooring. It's like walking into a 1920s oasis of sophistication. A real treasure. Sitting in the library area was fabulous - surrounded by wood, the smell of furniture polish and mosquito coils, books and an assortment of quirky odds and ends. All that was lacking was a good gin and tonic. The room was beautiful and very comfortable, with good air conditioning. It also had a TV, although this wasn't working at the time because a recent typhoon had taken out some of the infrastructure. That was not a problem - I don't come on holiday to watch TV. The bathroom was also of an excellent standard. I wasn't convinced about the cleaning, though, since there was an old toothbrush left on top of the mirror. The reception staff were delightful, and very helpful. The welcome was warm and we were able to check onward plans. I was slightly taken aback about being asked to pay a deposit of 1000 pesos in order to stay, but we duly got this back when we checked out. And I was able to leave USD for this deposit, since I had run out of local currency. I was also delighted that they were able to take payment for extras (such as meals) by Mastercard or Visa. There was also good internet in the library area and upstairs in the restaurant. What really lets the place down is the food offering. On going upstairs for a drink, we were met by a fairly disinterested member of staff, who we found on the balcony playing with his phone. We had wanted gin and tonic, but while the latter was available the former was not. We settled on beer, which was brought to us. But we then had to ask for napkins for fear of putting our glasses and cans down on the beautifully polished tables and spoiling them. The menu was extensive, and covered 8 or so pages. Many of the dishes had been marked up as unavailable, and I'm always happy to see that in a menu. However, it then became obvious that many of the other dishes on the menu were also unavailable or 'seasonal'. I settled on mushroom soup to start and one of the two specials that was written up on the 'Specials Board' - lapu-lapu fish. I was told that the mushroom soup was only available for big groups and served four people and that the special was not available (only the blue marlin special was available). We were the only people in the restaurant; their idea of a 'special' and mine are very different. I settled on 'fish and chips'. The chips were nice. The fish batter was blackened and inside the fish ranged from being just about cooked, to being rather mushy - I couldn't tell whether this was due to it being raw or due to over-microwaving. It was pretty inedible. My partner finally settled on pesto pasta after being told that most of the other dishes of his choosing were not available. This was OK. We wanted white wine with the meal but there wasn't any cold white wine. To make it cold, we were offered ice in our glasses. So, we settled on red. The dining room itself, was lovely and very palatial. They had also gone to a lot of effort with some tasteful Christmas decorations and a lovely tree. The ambiance was spoilt, though, by endless Richard Clayderman (or something in a similar vein). So, I'd happily recommend this as a place to stay. However, if you want to eat, unless you like pesto pasta I would check that there is somewhere reasonable nearby that you can get to.

Beautiful hotel matched with superb service, nice food and best bang for the buck. We have used this hotel for our business trips because it allows us to check in early if rooms are available, make reservations via text or call and not required to pay in advance, accepts credit cards and use the dining areas for meetings. Need more be said?

Casa Simeon was converted from a Spanish-style family residence into a well-appointed boutique hotel featuring modern conveniences blending well with traditional materials. Rooms are spacious and clean, with very comfortable large beds and ultra-modern bathroom facilities. The dining room is furnished for formal meals, and leads to a veranda with a view toward Mayon Volcano. Meals are prepared to order and delicious. The staff is eager to please, but in an unobtrusive way. A lovely place to stay.
