More about the hotel
Great Value for Money
I've spent approximately 2 nights/week from June 2019 to January 2020 in this Hotel for business reason. The Hotel is located in a beautiful position just in front of Kurpark and very close to the shopping area where you may also find Restaurants & Bars. Staff is very kind and always available to the Customers. Breakfast is very good and you could find everything you need. A private parking lot is available. Rooms are very large, clean and well equipped with a desk, sofa (in some rooms), minibar. The bathrooms are usually provided with a window and shower and are comfortable and clean.
Excellent location but old fashioned and room needs an urgent refurbishment
was here several days for business purposes. Positive: Large room, high ceiling so spacious except for the bathroom that is a bit tiny but very clean. Two small complementary bottles of water for the stay and a cattle for warm water for tea/coffee at request. Breakfast was ok but not more. The blond lady servicing the breakfast was very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect, just in front of a huge park and the city center with plenty of restaurants is at short walking distance. For improvement: The room I had in the main building (same where reception is) is very old fashioned and it really needs a refurbishment to bring it into this century. There is no safe in the room, small bathroom, no air-conditioning. The room gave out on the back and the receptionist told me upon check-in that it was a quiet room. Well not, I had noise from a nearby kitchen(?) of a neighbouring hotel where people were talking loud and making a lot of noise.
Very hot room, no fan, rude manager
We recently booked for two nights in Hotel Villa Am Kurpark. Upon arrival (late on Friday night) we were disappointed to find a VERY hot room, with no fan (a €15 euro purchase.... surely put one in every room when the temperature is 30 degrees outside?) As a result we did not sleep well, so the following day we asked the staff member at reception for a fan... and were told there wasn’t one. We therefore booked a hotel down the road for similar price (4 star and with air con in the rooms) and told the manager of Hotel Kurpark, we were going to check out as we could not sleep. I would NOT have written a bad review if the manager had apologised, and explained they had taken the comments on board, and offered to refund our second night. Instead the manger was defensive, she raised her voice, and shouted at the staff member (who had told us there was no fan) in front of us. Along with this she refused to refund our second night, saying “it’s through booking.com there’s nothing I can do” even though we had paid the manager in cash directly for our room???? I’m afraid to say, to the manager, she had a chance to save this situation, but failed. I don’t like to write bad reviews when hotels make honest mistakes, BUT failure to rectify them, and poor attitude from management means I have no choice but to use whatever is in my power.... and that is to write a review to describe my experience with this hotel.
The best location!
Great location across from the park. Walking distance to everything- shops, restaurants, and the thermal spas. We never had to take an Uber- it was even walking distance from the train. The room was nice and clean- high ceilings made it feel even larger. Big windows. My friend and I had twin beds- rather small and a bit firm for me, but ok. One pillow each. Bathroom was nice- big shower and always very clean. Two towels only and a little on the small side. They provide shampoo and lotion, but no conditioner, but there are a lot of stores very close by for anything else you need. Room includes breakfast each day, but it's only from 8am-10am. Breakfast was ok- very European with cheeses and meats. Not many options for a more US diet- fruit and yogurt, hard boiled eggs (that were actually soft boiled- not to my liking), and breads. But adequate. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating.
Disapointing
When we arrived at around 1400, the doors were closed but a tel.nr. was displayed on the front door. However, at 1630 did we make contact and could we obtain the key to our room which was in the brick building. This section is "the luxurieus" section, price room 70% higher than the published price. The room/house is next to a car entrance for neighbouring activity, hence, starting 06.15am, there is noisy traffic as if the cars come straight into your room. You have to sleep with the Windows open since there is no airco. Also missing in room is a safe, a trouwers press, water kettle. Excellent is the breakfast and when the reception desk is occupied, the lady is friendly. Advice: if you still want to go, don't take room 20 but stay in the main building and pay less.
