Very small room
We liked the modern style in the old building, but the room was very tight. Our room looked out to the town hall square so was peaceful at night. The breakfast was nice we were able to sit on the terrace. The wifi in the room was not existent, could not connect at all. Location of the hotel is super, walking distance to the wooden bridge, cathedral, Switzerland and restaurants. Our bikes were nicely stowed in the cellar via an outdoor lift! Helpful friendly staff at reception and at breakfast.
Bad rooms, rude staff
This hotel has no service if you ask me. All staff never smile and have bad attitude, they are not willing to help and that is the way it is and if you like it! I have paid a full price and got a very bad, tiny room on the street, that furniture were falling apart, tv was facing the wall (not the beds) and the worst was the bathroom was so small that when getting out of the shower there was no room to dry yourself. Very disappointing...
Great location but could use some work
My husband and I traveled here at the end of December. My parents used to manage this hotel when I was about 10 years old and I haven't been back in 25 years. It was my husband's first trip to Europe so I wanted to show him where I grew up. From the outside it looked like nothing had changed and made me very nostalgic. The inside has been updated beautifully and I was very happy with our room. Very spacious and the bathroom had a heated towel rack which was a nice touch. You can fully open the windows which is wonderful especially if you get a room overlooking the bridge like we did. The room did not have any USB ports which would have been great but our adapters worked fine in the plugs so it wasn't a big deal. The WIFI is absolutely horrendous!!!! Barely worked the entire time we were there. Luckily we had paid for our phones to work overseas so it wasn't an issue for us but I feel like this would be a problem for a lot of travelers these days! Also, no fitness center/gym, but there is an Aqualon Fitness/Spa close by where we purchased day passes. The included breakfast buffet was great. Lots of choices and also a mimosa bar. I had wanted to speak with the manager/owner to tell them about my experiences there as a child and to share some fun old pictures I had but I was brushed off by 2 staff members which kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, nice room, good location, but the rest is a bit mediocre.
Cozy hotel in front of the Rhin River
Familiar treat, comfortable, but tiny rooms. Good service and great restaurant although a little bit pricey, considering the many options in the town, including several realy good. Rooms should be better and bigger for the price you pay.
Nice place/location, no WiFi in room, too greedy, .....
The place is not bad and room, breakfast match the room rate. There seems to be just one Wifi spot at the reception and although my room was not far from that, the connection was not usable (from Thinkpad, mobile phone, …). I needed to iron out minor transport wrinkles in my shirt for the business meeting in the morning and was told that the hotel had a number of flat irons in store but it would be strictly forbidden by the management to borrow these to customers. I would need to hand over my shirt to the ironing service. When traveling for business, I am used to these things are available in the room by default. Maybe this is not common in Europe?
