Pros: beautiful entrance, Spa good service, Beach walking distance from pool,
Cons: Bufett food, (breakfast) was cold, fly on the food, We when to have dinner at the Italian restaurant, My friend order Milanesa chicken, and what they got was Burn chicken. Come on chef, how dare you send burn chicken to your customer. I order Salmon, the plate was bigger than the salmon I got. Long Drive to Puerto Vallarta, WIFI not available around area, Bath, pool, and face towel could be use as exfoliating body scrub instead of drying yourself. Drinks were water down. We reserved double bed in the room we got a King side bed. No adult activities after 11pm. No customer service hospitality this is a PLUS if you want people to come and visit you again.

We spent an awesome time at the Riu hotel, great service very much focused in customer satisfaction. Great service, very good property, awesome food. Highly recommend for families. Staff very friendly and always helpful with lots Of activities for all

Let's start with the good: the cleaners do a good job getting your room set up in the morning. Other than that, PLEASE be advised about the following experiences we had with this hotel:
The staff is absolutely not trying to help you. I ask questions when I check in (naturally) to which the receptionist answers one thing (ex: covid test is free and you can change the time you're assigned for the test if you want to). Then, when it's time for them to act on their word, a second receptionist will completely contradict the first receptionist. Not only that, but she will tell you "we told you that.." when they CLEARLY stated the opposite initially.
I am super tolerant and very understanding when it is an honest mistake / misunderstanding. But after staying in this hotel for 6 days and having the same thing happen to us on 3 different occasions (listed below if interested so you don't make similar mistakes) I can confidently say their customer service SUCKS. That goes primarily for the front desk
Front desk says...:
1. Covid test can be changed to fit a time that suits you better
2. There are only 2 connected devices to your room's wifi at a time but you can log out of 1 and connect a different one
3. They have masks on demand when you need them
Front desk actually means..:
1. If the time you were assigned doesn't work for you, you'll have to go to the nearby hotel and pay $60 for your covid test
2. You CANNOT disconnect a device and reconnect another one. Once you logged into 2 devices there is no going back without paying more money
3. They do not give out masks anywhere in the hotel. You'll need to bring your own
I took the time to write this review to make sure anyone reading this understands - this hotel will say one thing to soothe you and completely change tone when it comes time to it. Riu Vallarta, I can honestly say I was dissatisfied with your service and will not return until your staff learns some basic customer service

While I was waiting for the elevator, a group of people without masks approached, to which my mother asked them to put it on and a woman answered her in a very bad way and refused to put it on. I answer that it is disrespectful and that you better not get on the elevator. Then the lady pushed me on several occasions to get into the elevator by force along with two other women who were accompanying her. Among them, 3 of them assaulted my mother and me both physically and verbally. We saw which floor her room was on and a range of 4 rooms that she could be staying in. We went to report to reception but they did not want to do anything even though we gave them enough information to be located. In short, THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE WELFARE OF THEIR GUESTS since they are incapable of maintaining order and sanctioning those who break the rules and endanger others. The steps they take to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are simply HORRIBLE. At the buffet everyone grabs the same spoons to help themselves and some antibacterial gel dispensers don't work. They should have staff to serve the guests so that there are not so many hands taking the same utensils to take the food from the buffet. There was also a problem with our safe (we could not open it and it marked error) and they did not want to go to repair it even though we urgently needed the objects that were inside. This happened at 5 in the afternoon and they told us they would come to check in until 9. The amount of time was exaggerated. It was necessary to demand that they come immediately because otherwise they would have taken too long. The food is not bad but it is not excellent either. There was raw meat between the buffet and I had diarrhea after returning from the trip. Everything has very short times. Restaurants, bars, everything. There is only one site that is open 24 hours. There is no room service. There are few elevators and the distances to get to the bathroom are enormous. Overall I had a good experience but those are my complaints. The rest is pretty good. The interior of the hotel is very beautiful and so is the view. The shows are excellent and very entertaining, there are shows for children and then there is a general show. Around the pools there are enough sun beds for everyone and I liked that, because there are places where it is difficult to find free sun beds. If you go around August I suggest you be careful when entering the beach due to the presence of jellyfish. My dad was stung by a jellyfish while in the sea.

This is the first time we’ve need to a resort during the off season or maybe it was partially due to covid? What a treat to be able to always find a lounger by the pool or beach and even shade! The staff were fantastic and always helpful and friendly! The food was what you’d expect from a buffet but alway fresh and tasty. The covid test required for our return to the states was well organized and easy as well. We wandered down to the Jalisco as well for drinks and music. We would definitely recommend this resort!
