We truly enjoyed our stay the W hotel. The staff is personable and helpful throughout your stay. We felt like family for the fews days we were here. The food at the hotel is delicious especially the Spice Market. We loved the Spice Market so much we enjoyed dinner there a few times. The spa is fantastic and breathtaking and the services match the ambience. I wish I remembered everyone’s names that made our stay memorable. I would like to say on our last night we were excited to try the Duck carnitas dish but unfortunately the restaurant was sold out of the dish due to high demand that evening. The staff at the W made it possible for our group to have a private lunch prior to the restaurant opening the following day and they served us the Duck carnitas. It was truly a kind gesture and I must say the Duck was fantastic. Many thanks to everyone working very hard to make this a great hotel especially during Covid. Looking forward to returning some day!
Wonderful stay at the W

My boyfriend and I visited the W in September 2021 and we absolutely enjoyed our stay. In addition to the location being one of the best spots in Punta de Mita, the food and service was incredible. The entire team was attentive and very friendly, especially Julio at Venazu who went above and beyond. Truly an amazing trip!
Quality of food

The food at this resort is average for the prices they charge . We kindling decided to try every restaurant this hotel has to offer . Completely overpriced and average . From breakfast to lunch and dinner $100 plus for two . I’m assuming most people come to a resort like the W to vacation . Beautiful property tucked away from everything . The bad part is your forced to eat food with no flavor. I’d you wan to venture off the property you have to drive a couple miles. This hotel is.a 3 star at best
Overpriced, dated and NOT luxurious for rates they charge.

The hotel is no longer a 5-star hotel. But it thinks it is. Our stay had luxury rates but was way below luxurious. In fact at most a 2-star rating from us. We paid close to $700 a night at a jungle- hidden room that normally goes for $200-$250 a night.
Those are rates we have paid at a Four Seasons or St. Regis stay and the service is beyond superb. This was a big fail.
NOT A GOOD VALUE AND NOT LUXURY
If you are staying at this hotel, do not pay more than $300 a night for a room here. They entire location needs remodeling. What was once a cool, trendy and hip place but now it is dated, overpriced and falling apart
Everywhere in our room the wood was chipped as was the wall. The glass mirror in the bathroom was glued so many times that there was thick glue residue buildup.
The decorative pillows felt dirty, old and flat and smelled of sweat and disinfectant. Very dated. They desperately need new ones.
Let’s talk about the patio furniture. The patios are big- very nice actually . But there are only two rocking chairs, no place to enjoy room service.
Same can be said about inside the room. There is a very low coffee table - no where to eat your order room service.
You can tell they are cutting costs - because there was a fridge and what was once a tray filled with nice little goodies- yeah both were empty and there was only a bottle water by the coffee.
Oh and the Nespresso machine didn’t not work great.
FOOD FIRST NIGHT-TACO NIGHT
The food. We went in for taco night. The fillings of the tacos had been sitting out for hours, the meat was tough and difficult to eat in a taco. What a disappointment that you go to Mexico and can’t get a good taco. The price for a few tacos — over $120. They offered a dessert that also had been sitting for way too long, was soggy and horrid.
We also ordered breakfast buffet and overcharged us for it despite that we are Bonvoy guests.
Let’s talk about the entertainment, first boat at taco night- gosh poor girl- she sang ok for a teen but more often than not she struggled with the songs she selected. It was difficult to listen. It is a boring and offered very little for guests to enjoy.
The DJ at pool was ok- not great.
It was practically empty when we arrived. We saw and asked for a cabana facing the beach that was not in use and under a palm tree and we were told it was “reserved.” We stayed till pool closed- and cabana was never used.
The service at the pool was good initially, it did take a bit long and at one point we went into the beach, they brought our food while we were in the water and instead of holding it in a fridge- the left it in the sun. We had hot ceviche because it was left in the sun to get warm- it was horrid. If I was a server I would not leave my guests food sitting on the sun for long but maybe we are asking too much on that one. The Ceviche was literally left in the sun - not even covered. It was hot. Oh and they got our order wrong as well- but we won’t ding them for that.
NOT ALL HORRID
The beach is wonderful. Water was warm and so pleasant.
Our last meal was very yummy and a better value. We had the seared tuna- very good.
The COVID testing center was clean and great. Our car service was also awesome.
Do better W. This was terrible.
Felt like a VIP

Having done some minor advertising-related work for W Hotels in the early years of my career, I had already been a fan of the brand. And in recent years my wife and I became recurring guests of its properties; always impressed with the design, food, and service. But our stay at W Punta de Mita was exemplary of W Hotels at its finest.
We headed to the property for my birthday after pitting it against W South Beach and W Fort Lauderdale as alternatives; and I’m so glad we went with W Punta de Mita. The resort is absolutely stunning. Architecturally, it effortlessly nestles into the jungle, with little casitas, villas, and triplex buildings scattered throughout the grounds, collectively hugging a beautiful man-made lake before the property stretches to the beach. It can’t be overstated how incredibly impressive the premises are.
Not to be outdone by their awe-inspiring workplace, the staff were equally exceptional. I expected SOME special treatment since it was my birthday, and my wife has Titanium Elite status, but they made us feel like VIPs. As with most things, your mileage may vary, so I won’t go into specifics. But we were given treats and little perks throughout the duration of our time that put our stay at W Punta de Mita in a class of its own. I can’t say I’ve been treated better anywhere else. Even when we ran into the serious issue of our hot water malfunctioning the last two nights, they went the distance to properly compensate us for the trouble. Admittedly, it never quite got fixed, but they really tried to make it right.
This review would be incomplete if I didn’t explicitly call out some of the amazing staff that made us feel especially welcome during our stay, from my birthday dinner at Mesa1 to chilling poolside in our cabana. Alex (Alejandro): Who I suspect put everyone on notice that it was my birthday, and making it truly unforgettable. Rocky: For being an amazing host through our Mesa1 experience and beyond. Regina: For her kind heart and attentive nature whenever we spent time at the pool. Victoria and Nacho for making sure we were well-fed and taken care of at our meals. And finally, Ruben at the front desk for doing his best to take care of our hot water issue.
I don't have names, but the spa staff were fantastic, and although we never got to know the cleaning staff, they were phenomenal. Every day we came back to a spotless room.
W Punta de Mita has set an incredibly high bar for our future W Hotels experiences, as well as future birthdays. I can’t wait to return, and when we do, I hope to share the experience with friends in tow.
