Looking Forward to Our Return
For sure we will be back. This place has all the character, charm and comfort we had hoped for. The staff is lovely and the property is impeccably maintained. Monica and Paola took care of our questions and offered suggestions while Jair (sp?) the bellman was ready to help with anything. The waiters at El Encanto (the on-site restaurant), Fabian, Christian and Antonio, always had smiles and we soon became friends. Lastly, we can't say enough about the chef, Julio Cesar. The food was exceptional. Mar del Cabo was just what my husband and I needed after a difficult year and we fell in love with this piece of heaven. We will return as often as possible.
Amazing visit!
The perfect place for a romantic, peaceful Covid antibody vacation! Gorgeous boutique property on a quiet, private stretch of beach away from the Spring Break crowds and large resorts. We felt like we practically had the place to ourselves. Absolutely wonderful customer service from everyone, especially the fantastic wait staff, kitchen staff, and bartenders. We had a ball. Would recommend this property to anyone, particularly couples looking for privacy and ambience.
Charm, Service and Covid Safety
This was our second visit to Mar del Cabo, but the first during the Pandemic. The Covid procedures were flawless from sanitized rooms to luggage wipe down on arrival. All staff were masked and wore face shields. Pool chaises, beach chaises and tables in the restaurant were spaced apart. So from the first day we felt safe. But the real treat of this hotel is its quaint intimacy and the great staff. Rooms are serviced every day without having to make a request, the servers are always there for your cocktail order on the beach or a lunch at the pool. Breakfast is lovely and the flora beautiful. It feels more like your private villa. The rooms are spacious, nice linen and towels and a great shower. The added benefit of being able to dine next door at their five star all inclusive sister property was a great bonus, especially during the Pandemic when eating in town wasn’t an option for us. When the worst thing you can say about a hotel is that you wished there were a couple more hooks in the bathroom, you know it’s a gem.
What a Wonderful Place...
Thanks to diligence and luck we finalized our vaccinations four days before departure. In February my wife and I arrived on a half-full jet to San Juan del Cabo. We picked up a car and drove to the lovely Hotel Mar del Cabo. They were very, very happy to see us. The view from the open-air lobby was sensational; the pictures are accurate. Throughout our stay, we maintained the Covid uniform, and the excellent hotel and restaurant staff were diligent in their precautions, as well. That complemented the first-class service delivered by all. As we first descended the staircase to our room, we passed extravagant bougainvilleas in full bloom adorning cascading, brilliant white rooms and suites with lovely balconies. The steps and walls boasted liberal garnishes of blue and yellow Mexican tiles. We didn't pass a soul on the way down, and the pool, restaurant and beach, visible from our room, were all deserted. This was the case for most of our visit, and it was a sobering reality check. The hotel was built in the ‘80s in an arroyo that descends through sand and granite landscape, from a ridge down to the sea. Instead of filling the arroyo, architects retained many of the rock formations, incorporating them into the structure of the building, and accommodating the design to the topography. The result is delightful. Our suite was clean, comfortable and spacious. There was even a cheery Mexican elephant (see photo), bearing a bouquet of bougainvilleas, to welcome us. The room had a kitchen (not used), a ceiling fan and a/c. It overlooked the pool, the Encanto restaurant where we dined many mornings and evenings, and the beach. Sunrises and sunsets were often spectacular (see photo). The setting was so exceptional that we felt no pressing reason to leave the hotel, though we still did our share of exploring.. There are many massive chrome, glass and concrete palaces lining these beaches, and if you could somehow pick up many of them, they could be dropped with equal effect in Shanghai, New York or Abu Dhabi. Unlike these, Mar del Cabo has a genuine sense of place, and we loved that. What a beautiful way to spend a long week! We’d go back in a heartbeat…Once you get your vaccine, I can’t suggest a more inviting and deserving place to decompress…I hope their long winter, like ours, is beginning to turn into a better day.

The thing about this hotel which sets it apart are the staff. They are absolutely amazing . friendly, responsive, courteous, and more than happy to accommodate your holiday/vacation needs. We were totally impressed.
