Back at the Drop Inn
Here again after a couple of years. Nothing changed still in need of an upgrade and modernisation. Staff really pleasant and helpful with good English. Room large with fridge, wifi, TV, safe and king sized bed but oh dear so in need of total overhaul Lift very dangerous, it arrived at my floor I opened door to get on and it was already half way up to the next floor leaving shaft open. Breakfast was very basic two eggs, ham and small hot dog sausage, but plenty of tea and toast ()do it yourself). The area is a small Soi (road) with a few bars nearby which means it can be noisy, but since last visit a karaoke club has opened near by and I was woken by it both nights once at 0345 and the other at 0440, they are meant to shut at 0200 but this is Thailand The room was 1400bht which was more than enough for the type of hotel it is. I was told they are trying to sell it at the moment, whoever buys it will have to invest if they are to keep it as an hotel But I still enjoyed the stay and the area

The facts about Drop Inn
I've stayed at most of the hotels in the area, both big and small, and have been staying at this hotel for over 15 years. The staff at Drop Inn are the best you will find in this type of boutique hotel. And for the price you pay you will NOT find a better deal compared to other properties in the area, or for that matter in Southeast Asia. Anytime I've had any kind of request or problem it has been deal with as soon as possible and the staff here really take guest satisfaction to heart. They could not be more approachable and frequently enquire of guests how their stay is. Of course for about twice the price there are newer better fitted out rooms but in the 15 years staying, in all types of room, here I've never had a serious problem of any kind.
Amazing service but badly maintained
First the good things. The location is excellent on a quiet smaller soi between 18 and 20. The staff is amazing. They are really polite and try their best to help you. But then there is the other side. Everything is either dirty or poorly fixed. The room smelled sweaty sock at one corner (odd), the shower curtain was moldy, walls where dirty, mattress rock solid, bedding torn, towels worn out and other smaller mishaps. I did not have the "do not disturb/make up the room" flap at all until second day after asking it several times. Also one day cleaning was not done even I was out whole day and they had the key. Breakfast is bit hit and miss but the old lady working there I very lovely and I believe she does her best. This place to justify their price and even succeed, they need to really look into cleaning and bedding. Management should tour all the rooms and check walls, showers and quality (lack thereof) bedding and towels. I really wanted to give better review due the staff but in the end, quality of sleep, room and materials matter more.
Nice Hotel
A nice hotel in very good location. Friendly staff who organized a car park for us direct next to the hotel and this is very difficult if you know the traffic in BKK. And the best it was for less. Our room was clean and big. The prices are fair for room and mini bar. The breakfast is normal and typical for Thailand (Eggs in different styles, sausages and ham with toast or croissant) Overall we i can recommend to stay here!
