More about the hotel
nice stay but getting dated
great stay, another fantastic hampton inn. the rooms are getting dated and paint is starting to peel but it was comfortable. I can't say much about the staff because I didn't see any. at all. both days i was there. i know it's covid driven so i cant fault the hotel. it was a nice clean and safe stay
A little tired, but had a good location and those comfy Hilton beds
I stayed at this property for three nights in October. Positives: friendly staff, good location, those comfy Hilton beds, typical convenient outlets and furnishings that Hampton Inns. Furnishings are a little tired (lamp shade had holes in it -- just made room seem a little tacky. Do note though that the pricing for this property is quite low (economical).T And I have a few petty complaints too. They didn't even provide an extra roll of toilet paper. This is the first place I have ever in my life at a hotel property that I ever ran out of that and had to go down to the front desk to request a roll. And then when they delivered a roll they just gave one (fine for my stay, but what are they thinking -- that people will steal toilet paper??). My channel changer batteries were almost dead (tough to turn TV on, so I had to request replacement batteries, which they happily provided, but again this is the first place I have ever stayed where I had to do that. Also, for a three night stay (of course no maid service unless requested due to COVID 19), they did not provide any extra trash bags or instructions on what to do with trash. I brought mine to the front desk if it didn't fit in common area trash containers and ended up buying my own small plastic bags at Walgreens as the front desk line was long when I wanted to ask about this and I was going to Walgreens anyway. Other properties that I have stayed at during the COVID period have made sure that extra trash bags, toilet paper, and things like that were right in the room and had specific instructions to leave trash outside your door, etc. Again, the friendly staff was more than willing to help, but at other places I have stayed I would not have even had to ask.
Failure to Follow Mask Requirements
Friday 7/10 checkin went well with staff person wearing their mask as expected. The next 12 hours had 0 staff wearing masks and most guests observed without masks. Today, 7/13, I called the site asking for the manager - I recognized her voice as being the desk person who was wearing no mask on 7/11. When asked if she had worked over the weekend, she responded yes, she usually works the first shift. After sharing my concerns regarding her not wearing a mask, she first responded that they didn't need to wear masks until today - I pointed out that since hotels had been deemed an essential service, they most definitely were required to wear masks per EO 2020-114. She then switched to well I'd just say I have asthma then. I said then you have the option of wearing a face shield. I identified the 2 housekeepers I saw in the hallway not wearing masks. She said oh no, XXX always wears a mask. I said they both had masks under their chins, not covering their faces - it doesn't count. She then took a completely non-acknowledgement of any wrong doing, that she was busy and didn't have time for this. She stated that 50% of Michigan doesn't wear masks anyway. When asked if this was a corporate policy, she replied yes. I informed her I'd already submitted my ratings with Hilton on my stay and would be following up with corporate as she wasn't taking this seriously. She never took my name, specific dates of stay, or room number. I hope this property changes their policies to align with the State's Executive Orders. I'm a Hilton Gold member and was shocked and lost all confidence that the location is maintaining a healthy guest environment per the current COVID19 pandemic.
Great stay
This is the second stay at this hotel for kids sport event. Great customer service by all staff. Room was great and beds were comfortable. Breakfast there was lots of choices to pick from. Only complaint was we were on main floor and lots of noise from rooms above. Great stay
Hampton Inn Battle Creek
The manager along with the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The manager happily switched us from the third to the first floor. The room was clean. The breakfast was really nice. The hotel grounds looked very well maintained.
