Great all round hotel

We stayed in a privilege room, and although we didn’t get some of the smaller promised things (beach towels in room, turndown, welcome cocktail), we felt it was a brilliant deal and we had a great time. The small cons- sometimes had to ask many times at the Terrace a la carte restaurant (for privilege) to get things. Also at this restaurant, sometimes items were a little cold. It was an arms race for beach sunbeds with umbrellas in the morning. Didn’t get beer or coffee consistently restocked in room. Toilet door didn’t shut properly and generally there’s not a lot of privacy in the room. I wish the hotel had an app like Bahia principe! You can see, these cons are small. The property is gorgeous and well maintained. The beach is stunning and there is an artificial reef set up at the swim line so it’s great for some snorkelling and many fish around (although I wish there was more education about not standing on the coral especially when the water is still low enough for an adult to comfortably stand). The sea was generally calm during our stay. The pool is super nice, very clean and cleverly set up with different sections, so even though there’s only one pool it doesn’t feel crowded and is good for the kids. With privilege you take take breakfast and lunch a la carte by the beach, it is worth it for this alone. We generally enjoyed the food - the buffet was good, too, with always an interesting choice like tempura style fried chicken or traditional Dominican lentils. With privilege you also get to use a dedicated bar where each frozen drink is custom made- at the regular bar, the premixed drinks are not really frozen during the day. Speaking of the drinks, they had some super interesting ones- tamarind margarita and passion fruit daiquiri. Staff are very nice, so friendly especially the front desk. It definitely helps to have a little Spanish but everyone tries their best. We were able to have a courtesy room at the check out. Highly recommend this hotel but feel privileged added a lot to our personal experience.

We really enjoyed our stay in this resort! Especially the poolbar, very nice people, good music had a good time with Enrique and Leonel. The country is very beautifull and the people make it better!!!

First the good. Staff is amazing. Lionel and Enrique at the pool bar do a fantastic job, are always happy and friendly. We were never short on drinks when with them. Yveline at guest services was always friendly and remembered my name from the second day, and used it often. I felt the warmth of her connection. The privilege service at the terrace was also fantastic. Francisco and Emiliano knew our breakfast orders everyday. Breakfast was always amazing. Loved the cappuccino everyday at the Merenguero bar. Privilege didn't include top shelf liquor which was disappointing. I hate the fact that the bathroom doesn't have much privacy, my 12 year old doesn't need to see her dad poop and vice versa. The doors on both the shower and toilets are fairly see through. The food wasn't the best. The pizza restaurant never had pizza waiting. Always had to wait at least 5 to 10 minutes. The hostess at the pizza place was never friendly. I had to clean my own table a few times while she watched before eventually coming over. The Ala Carte restaurants were ok. Everyone wanted the steakhouse but it was hard to get good times. There needs to be a better way to book the Ala carte restaurants than going to guest services everyday. In the Internet age this is a necessity. Overall we had a great time and would definitely return. Upgrade to privilege for a slightly bigger room with more beds and access to the privilege restaurant, but don't expect much else. Tip the staff because they absolutely deserve it. And if you get a chance, do the Soana Island tour WITH a catamaran for an amazing day.

Very fun place to visit, everyone was friendly, and never once ran into any issues. The expeditions were fun and entertaining and recommended doing them if able to! The food was really good and the buffet had a lot of different options for all meals of the day if you weren't feeling up to just one type of food. The themed restaurants all hit their marks as well. And if do room service, highly recommend the pizza and plate of fresh fruit. The pizza was so good and crispy and fruit is as fresh as can get.
Awesome Time at an Amazing Resort

Place is phenominal. We went down for a week to celebrate wife's 40th birthday. Staff was friendly. The excursions were awesome (Highly recommend the Soana Catamaran tour!) Food was tasty, just have to make reservations for dinner if not doing buffet. Well worth it. Then went above and beyond and decorated room and door on wife's birthday and delivered fresh made chocolate truffles!
