Another amazing stay
Me and my partner stayed at the Cornelia for a week from 15th September 2020, it was our second time and definitely not the last. Last year we had room 5535 and loved it so much we asked if possible to have again this year. We didn't expect this as we know the hotel is very busy but were so pleased to find out they had this room available for us again this year. Check in was quick and the staff very friendly, they sanitized our suitcases and took them up to our room for us. We then went to the Dome Bar as it is 24 hour (it was around 2am) for a quick drink before heading to our room. When we went back to our room we ordered room service as we were hungry. It is 10 or 15euro but you can order as much as you like and the food is a good standard! The restaurants are amazing, we try and book one each night although the buffet is also good. Fish and Love is our favourite and we ate there twice on this years trip. 15euro per head, but again you can order as much as you like and it includes your all inclusive alcohol. The hotel is absolutely immaculate, all workers wear masks 24/7 and bins are constantly emptied, areas sanitised etc. Even the gardeners, beach boys, lifeguard all wore masks, they work so hard especially in the heat. Entertainment is very good, we really enjoyed Jazz on the pier - again where the staff work effortlessly hard to ensure your drinks are constantly topped up and you have nibbles! Our transfer home was 9:50pm and it was 100euros to extend our room until 6pm that day which we did not do. Usually they offer use of the spa for a shower before your flight, but due to COVID they offered us another room to shower in which was great! I can't wait to go back!
Beautiful resort, with friendly staff and a great atmosphere!
We arrived at the Cornelia Diamond on Friday 11th September and were absolutely blown away immediately by how lovely this place is. My friends who I am visiting with have been several times before, but as a first time visitor I was really impressed by the overall cleanliness of the entire hotel. Rooms are perfect, everywhere is just immaculate all the time. Food and drink wise we have been so pleased with the quantity and quality, there isn’t an hour in the day where you are hungry because there is always food available, breakfast until 11am, lunch starting at 12 and evening meals available at the main restaurant or a la carte. There are many different types of food so be assured you will find something you love! Everything is fresh and cooked in front of you most of the time, the chefs are really passionate and friendly. It’s a great experience Entertainment wise there are many options, daily shows at 9:30pm, live music performances (we love the Jazz on the pier, and a live DJ at the dome bar. The entertainment team , Deniz and Irina made us feel so welcome, we were invited to the daily activities, including Pilates, Step Aerobics and Yoga. They are amazing people and I hope to keep in touch with them both as friends. They made the trip so much more enjoyable There are many other sports facilities available , football, table tennis, tennis, basketball, badminton and many others! Overall our experience was fantastic, I would highly recommend this resort to families, couples, friends!
The Diamond has lost its sparkle
After a very good ( and not too crowded) flight with Jet 2,we arrived at Antalya to be met by our Sunttransfers driver. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. We arrived at Cornelia Diamond My Wife and I have visited Cornelia Diamond several times before but not for some years. We chose this hotel as we knew that there would be plenty of space and that they would follow all of the correct procedures for Covid 19. They did! As we entered the Lobby ,our cases were taken from us and disinfected (very reassuring) It was like stepping back in time as apart from there being no welcome Champagne (Covid again) ,nothing had changed and what once was a WOW factor now looked distinctly out of date and almost Burlesque like. After having welcome drinks with a couple of friends, we checked into our room and once again absolutely nothing had changed, it was just older and slightly tired. The rooms at CD are spacious, nicely furnished and clean, but they are now soooo out of date, the TVs are archaic and the light up mirrors are really old fashioned and tatty. Same 'swirly' carpets too, fabulous in the 'Noughties',but not now. Anyway I'm going to break this down into Pros and Cons. PROS All Covid 19 rules are followed by the hotel. The rooms are disinfected and sealed for your arrival The lifts are clearly marked as being for 2 people only (sadly our Russian and Eastern European friends don,t think that this applies to them) The Staff wear masks and PPE all of the time. The sunbeds are cleaned thoroughly and the freely available towels come pre wrapped . The drinks tariff is excellent with all Premium Spirits available and just a few 'top shelf' spirits chargeable, however there is only one bottled beer Efes Lite the rest are available but chargeable The Ala Carte restaurants ( we tried every one but the Fish) are excellent and well worth the( much debated) cover charge. The Italian is outstanding and Fatima is the best waitress in the hotel. The Pier Bar is the nicest bar in the hotel at any time of day and the Jazz Nights on it are a bonus. Last time we stayed here the Pier bar was pathetic ,now it is an outstanding feature .A big improvement. And finally the staff. From the man who sweeps up around the barite the cleaners, to the barmen, waiters, chefs, remember all of these people help to shape and make your holiday and are equally important. We tipped generously this time as these people have had a dreadful Summer and they are grateful that we have finally returned to Turkey and so did everyone we knew. CONS The Buffet restaurant is very poor, the food is definitely geared towards the Russians and Eastern Europeans. There were many, many British people this time and complaints were rife. Despite the valiant efforts of the Chefs and serving staff, the quality of food here was poor. The A la Carte booking system. It's just a joke. Late check out rooms . If available 100 Euros from 1200 until 1800 yeah right!!!!! However after taking the option of sharing the shower in the Spa with about 10 other people (how could that possibly be Covid secure) maybe it was good value, my Wife simply didn't,bother. Russian and Eastern European Guests The most ignorant, obnoxious, rude, insensitive awful people that I have ever encountered and I am very, very well travelled and why children are allowed to ride scooters throughout the lobby and down the winding staircase is beyond me . A disaster waiting to happen. I save my last and major criticism for the Management and particularly the Guest Relations team and Manager of that team. These people are simply inept! They do not know what they are doing! They may be very good at communicating with Guests of the Turkish and Eastern European etc.,ilk ,but they don't give a damn if you're British. This is not just personal experience ,but many British guests said the same things to us. After several tries, we just gave up and we are Silver Card holders at that! The General Manager was invisible throughout our stay, we know who he is and we never saw him or his cohorts once throughout our stay, leaving everything to the inept Guest relations Manager. Sadly, the Guest Relations will have the last say as they can reply to this and I can't reply to them and they will put a standard answer on this and file it away. Having said all of this, amazingly we had a great stay, we met some fantastic people ,the staff were fantastic, the weather perfect . Please Cornelia Diamond listen and act upon my comments ,they are entirely justified It is still a lovely hotel ,the staff are still the jewel in the crown, it just needs some love, care and attention and some training in Guest relations. I was tempted to give a 3 star rating, but the infrastructure is still there, it just needs some TLC! We have visited so many times and we still love the CD,but this time we won't be returning sadly for us The Diamond has lost it's sparkle
More 3 star than 5 star
After 4 nights at Gloria Serenity resort we decided to change our flight and stay another 4 days. We thought it would be good to experience another 5 star golf resort and also play the Faldo course. When we arrived we couldn’t believe how dated the hotel was. The lobby was a bit like a tired Las Vegas casino. The rooms were so dated with dark furniture and swirly carpets. When exploring the grounds we thought we’d been transported to a Butlins resort in the 1970s. This place is awful. It’s what you’d imagine a very cheap all inclusive resort would be like but it isn’t cheap and it’s supposed to be 5 star. We opted not to eat at the hotel as the buffet restaurant was like a school dining hall and just didn’t seem Covid safe with lots of people and all the tables inside. We only stayed one night and got the travel agent to transfer us back to Gloria serenity which is so much nicer - there is no comparison. We certainly would not recommend this hotel.
