More about the hotel
Hotel was fair but....
We decided to stay at the holiday inn here in Benton Harbor during the COVID19 pandemic, despite not intending to do so due to a funeral. This hotel was built in 1990, over thirty years old and the last time it was renovated was in 2010, ten or so years ago and the renovations are really showing their age and old gen-non OLED keycards (magnetic keycards). The hotel had very small bathrooms, and had a very limited breakfast menu. The room and cleaning service was so lethargic that they had to what until we had checked out. We may not come to this hotel again until it is modernized to 2020s standards and have better room service.
Disappointed
From the photos, I expected something a little different. The booking site showed a king room that had 2 nightstands. The actual room only had one, which is a pet peeve of mine. One side of the bed was right next to a wall, which I hate. The footstool was stained, making me wonder how clean the room really was.
Good location off highway
Just needed 1 night on our way home from a trip. Very easy to get to from the highway. Nice size rooms, comfy beds and really good breakfast. We needed 3 rooms and the man at the front desk, Darrius, was very professional and friendly.
Not great, slightly brow average
The front desk clerks were nice but we had to change rooms due to heat not working . Our door handle was about to fall off and door made a horrible noise. Toilet was loose and wiggles every where . Beds were just full not queen. Pool was ok, dark and gloomy . I have been to worse but I don’t plan on being back especially for the price .
Average Stay
We stayed at the hotel for 5 days the last weekend of 9/19. The street sign to the hotel entrance was so small that we drove past it several times (although it was dark). The room was nice, but the King size bed was awkwardly close to the wall, but not quite against it leaving any room, so my husband had to crawl in and out of bed. Additionally, we found the staff to be VERY UNFRIENDLY. The cleaning ladies would just walk right past us in the halls no eye contact, no hello. Most times when we came/went to and from the hotel, there was nobody at the front desk. On the few occasions that somebody was there, again nothing was said at all. No smile, no hello - NOTHING.... Needless to say, I don't think that we'll be returning.
