Very nice for the cost
Drove from Naples Florida to Berea in a single day so we were really exhausted. Made reservations prior to that date and let them know we would be late. Everything was ready at the front desk and the gentleman was very hospitable and helpful, also an obvious dog lover to our two dogs. Recommended a couple of places to get food which worked out well for a Sunday evening. Room was very clean, beds comfortable, Creek Side was quiet, we slept well! Only two complaints. Our room had a faint cigarette smell which management offered to move us to another room, which we declined and the breakfast promised at 6:00 am was not going to be ready till at least 6:30. Since we had another long drive ahead of us and were anxious to get home, we left without breakfast. If it were ready at 6:00, I would have given it a 5. Will definitely stay there again in January on our way back to Naples. We were assured when making that reservation that breakfast would be ready at 6:00.
Run
Easily the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The best thing about the room was the water pressure for the shower. The room was a non smoking double queen for 3 nights. We checked in around 10:30pm. The room was nasty. The smell of cigarettes could be smelled before you even opened the door. Dust all over the headboards, lamps and windows. The desk, nightstand and tv stand were sticky and obviously uncleared for the previous guest. The floor was covered in candy and toys. The shower had opened, used conditioner. The air unit was not working and we had to have the front desk come fix it. We couldn’t called the front desk because the phone didn’t work. No excuse for a room to be in that condition when we were one of maybe 10 rooms booked. It’s one thing to be an older hotel, that’s fine but to not clean a room during a pandemic. You should just shut it down. We should have asked for a different room but I was honestly afraid of how bad the next one would be. I had also spent 30 minutes cleaning that one so I could even bring my kids in the room. On the upside, the staff was incredibly nice.
Promised room not available, no refrigerator in room, bad smell. Property for sale.
We made reservations here, even though there were no reviews, but a high rating on the Choice Hotel website. We arrived a few minutes after our son and his family, they chose this hotel because they needed 2 queen beds for their family with 3 children. The front desk clerk said they didn’t have any left. The young man at the front desk was constantly apologizing, he was sincere, but didn’t know what to do. We then began our check in and they had our room with 2 queen beds, so we told him to give them our room. When we got to our room, there was no refrigerator, so I tried to call the front desk and the phone didn’t work! I went out to the front desk and the literally smelly manager, came and checked the phone and claimed that it worked. They had to bring in a refrigerator from another room, and the manager said not all rooms have refrigerators, even though the website said so! The manager was obviously the problem there. The next morning my husband noticed a for sale sign for the property, which explains a lot. The room smelled also. The breakfast was decent and that’s the only positive I can come up with. There are other options for hotels there, I would steer clear of this property.
Average Roadside Budget Hotel
This is a stretch of interstate with a number of other budget hotels. This one was just alright. It felt a little dated and a little musty, but overall was clean. I didn't much care for the breakfast here either. I would suggest you try for a better hotel option, but I can't exactly say I'm an expert in eastern Kentucky roadside hotels. Just know that you could do better, but that this place won't be the end of you if you have to settle here.
Good food
Loved this place and it is really great with the food and people. I hope you will want to visit and stay for awhile with these folks. Great people and nice and clean. See you there folks. Have a great stay
