Belle Époque style hotel in the heart of the Swiss Alps
Opinión escrita el 21 de Junio de 2021
This is a lovely old hotel full of charm surrounded by breathtaking alpine vistas. We had an excellent meal at the hotel restaurant, and the breakfast buffet is very good. There are excellent hiking opportunities in the region, and we plan to return to Bergün in winter to try the sledding run from Preda.

There is only one art nouveau, Belle Époque, Jugendstil Kurhaus Bergün. It’s a treat for architecture buffs, and luckily the family in charge have overlaid an excellent light touch. What you need - responsive staff, delicious food, comfortable beds - is ready and waiting. On top of which are added stylish touches and really thoughtful delights: the best pancakes a hotel has ever let you cook yourself for breakfast, a children’s menu where someone really understands children, a playground with a sunny terrace so you can drink coffee and your kids can have a super time. Add to that a ski room and slopes, it’s a perfect place for everyone. Be ready to learn (the original guests would have shared bathrooms, so if you need an en-suite, book it!) and be enticed by the beauty of the region; the mountains you can admire from the hotel terrace complete with occasional avalanches; the adjacent railway museum and astounding viaducts, the local farm shops with delicious produce to take home. It’s the real deal!

No one in the restaurant cared about us and when we asked if there is an a available table for two we received a harsh answer. Once seated no one wanted to take the orded. Unbelievable rude people. When we left they didnt even wanted to say goodbye

We stayed here for two nights, but it was great. The staff is very friendly and there is much to do, in and around the hotel. It is near the train station and has a large history. The food was very good as was the breakfast buffet.
Classic Old Hotel brought back to life

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at this lovely hotel. Long story short, we connected with Christof about a year and a half ago regarding an old hotel brochure from the 1940's that we found. Chris invited us to visit when we had the chance. We were able to make it happen and I am so glad that we did. Historically, this hotel was built around 1903 and it was a mainstay in the community as the rail passed through this lovely town. The hotel has been restored and is quite quaint in the fact that it has a very personal feel. Every aspect of the hotel oozed the personality of the people who work there and in comparison to some great places that we have stayed, everyone who we interacted with at this hotel seems to love their job and they try to make your stay the best it possibly can be.
The room is simple yet elegant. The room was sizable and had a modern styled shower placed into the room. They have done a great job of weaving modern conveniences with the original design of the hotel. The doors opened up to the balcony which was perfect to let the evening or morning air into the room.
Do not pass up the opportunity to visit the bar. The unique woodwork is amazing and each panel in the bar seems to take on faces of animals....stop by for a glass of wine on your way to the restaurant which is another must of this hotel. They are very modest but serve more like elegant dining dishes. The chef is exceptional. Cannot say that we had anything that we didn't like. Their dishes change seasonally as they use fresh ingredients focused around what is in season at that time.
This hotel and the people represent this Swiss town very well. It is a must for those that want to get a real feel of Switzerland. We wished we could have extended our stay a bit longer and are definitely looking forward to our next visit.
This hotel does a great job of being inclusive of families which says a lot about the character of the care that they place on their treatment of their guests.
Thank you Christof, Maya, and the entire staff at Kurhaus Bergun.
