Super property!
Ate dinner during my stay. The young man working the Bistro that night did an awesome job. Their menu was abbreviated but still plenty to choose from. The televisions were not working isn the Bistro due to a software issue which was being rectified so I had my meal in the lobby. First stay at this property. Located in the heart of downtown near UAB. The staff were unbelievably helpful and super friendly. They did an awesome job for sure! They have onsite parking which is not free but inexpensive. You only need to drive around the block, pull in, park and walk in the back door. My room was very comfortable and I slept nicely. They may be an update behind but the room was well maintained. Covid most likely was the reason for the delay in the update. Plenty of places to eat nearby but i ate here. Their Bistro was opened to my surprise which was awesome I asked the manager if this was okay and she had no problem knowing the issue with the televisions in the bistro. I had the tomato soup and their flatbread pizza. Both were yummy and filling. Did not finish the flatbread. Since they let me have the remote and watch what i wanted I returned the favor by cleaning up after myself. I know they appreciated the gesture and I appreciated them letting me sit in the lobby. Nice meal and great people!
Disappointed
Multiple problems with this one night stay. I am a regular Marriott customer, but this location fails. <>Bathroom had dirt and hair all along edge of floor. <>Hair and stains on bed sheet of one bed. It would have been noticed had sheets been changed. Slept on top of covers. <>Broken leg on pull out table that was obviously askew. A simply check of the room would have shown this. <> Least friendly staff I have encountered ever in a Marriott property. <>HVAC unit made noises like it would fall apart. <>Toilet cycled on/off all night.
Would not stay again
This was supposed to be a place where patients could rest and recover after surgery. This hotel was the noisiest hotel I have ever encountered. Vacuuming late at night, construction inside slow elevators, jackhammers right outside your window. Could hardly sleep. There was one microwave for the entire floor in the ice machine room which is a terrible idea during Covid-19. The staff was not welcoming, they had no parking. They sent us around the block to a public parking garage and it cost 8.00/day. It was difficult to find our way through garage back to hotel, no signs. They said breakfast would start at 6:30 but didn’t tell us ahead of time it wasn’t provided. Worst of all, the “special” patient rate was almost double what you would have paid just booking normally. Really felt price-gouged here and will not stay again.
Sunita bhakta
I am thrilled to shine a spotlight on this hotel! This place has been a lifesaver for me. My son has medical needs at UAB Hospital and the location is super convenient and perfect for us. Upon entering the hotel, the ambiance in the lobby is warm and inviting with its cleanliness and colorful design. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the outstanding manager Ms. Nina, Shantel, and the entire front desk staff who go above and beyond in taking good care of me. Customer service is on point! I always feel welcome and valued as a guest. In these uncertain times we live in, the hospitality is quite remarkable and it's a place that gives me peace of mind when it's time to book a room during the medical visits. Plus -it's a short walk to various restaurants like the bistro which I enjoy dining at before walking to the hospital. Super convenient indeed and I always get a comfortable night of sleep here. I'm also looking forward to the end results of some current renovations. I highly recommend this hotel!
Don't Let "Marriot" Fool You!
The ONLY positive is the location to UAB Hospital and parking in the connected garage. It is ashame this fact gives the establishment freedom for poor management and inferior quality. Toilet running, mattress lumpy and in order to open my room door, I had to go to desk THREE times to get them to reprogram key.
