Outcast With Food Allergies

I just want to say a big "THANKS" to Paul , for making me feel WORSE about my stay, than I did before I spoke with him. Breakfast staff had NO hospitality skills for SOME guests. My husband and I have food allergies, and tried to make sure this was not going to be an issue. I was told when I made my reservation that this was not a problem. Unfortunately, it was a HUGE problem and the breakfast "ladies" made us feel like we were not welcome as soon as we started to get our food. If you don't have food allergies, let me first of all say, "Count Your Blessings". Traveling with them is a real pain!! I never dreamed we would have such a bad experience at this establishment! Jason was kind about the situation, and that helped. I finally was able to speak with Paul this morning, and he was quick to defend their mistakes. I did get a partial apology, but he made sure to let me know that my unhappiness with the breakfast situation made some guest UNCOMFORTABLE. REALLY?? This is how you try to fix what happened??? We have traveled a lot, and I can't remember a time when I was made to feel this bad! The room was lovely, however, there was black mold on the curtain in the shower, and the mattress was SHOT! I also love it when the manager tells you how so many people just LOVE the breakfast! Well, I don't really care, because that wasn't MY experience! I know good help is hard to find and I know good management skills are not everyone's forte, but I sure didn't expect to feel worse after talking with the manager, Paul! This was supposed to be a relaxing get away. I am sure Paul will make some sort of comment about this review, but these are the facts, and this is how I feel!

[English] One of the cleanest hotels I've stayed into so far.
We really like the vintage decoration of the hotel and it proximity with restaurants (about 10min walk). My husband and I came here for a relaxed weekend.
[Français] Un hôtel super propre avec une décoration à l'ancienne style vintage, typique à l'ancienne américaine.
A proximité de l'université, choix de restaurants variés à moins de 10min de marche.
Idéal pour un weekend relaxe en couple.
Cozy and top-notch attention from staff

This is a really lovely property. Stayed in the main house and was given my choice of three rooms (which the innkeeper showed me upon arrival). Some of the rooms had dark, heavy funiture, which is not my thing, but Room 28 was bright and airy and perfect. The web photos don't do it justice. Nice takeaway breakfast choices in the morning and an easy walk to campus.

My wife and I stayed at this inn for her birthday for just one night. The room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The only negative was the coffee, it was nearly undrinkable. I don't remember the brand, but was not good and I love my coffee. Luckily the runcible spoon is nearby.

We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Grand Street Inn. We have not stayed at a true Inn for years and this was by far the best. Beautiful place and the staff was so nice and friendly. Paul and his team are top notch! The breakfast was delicious & fresh and the eating area is super clean and beautifully decorated. Our room was quaint and cozy but still had all the amenities we needed. It was great to see that they are Leed certified as well. The location was great too - walking distance to several great restaurants, breweries and shops.
