Hotel Breakfast in dire need of COVID restrictions
Reviewed 22 october, 2021
I stayed at this hotel a few months ago, and was pleased to see that they had many COVID restrictions in place including numerous hand sanitizing dispensers in the lobby and alongside the elevators on every floor. Also, the restaurant required all patrons to wear a mask when at the buffet table. My how things have changed. I am a Titanium member and I'm comped breakfast. Previously breakfast was at the Concierge Lounge. It was grab-and-go burritos and croissants. Individually wrapped, and safe. The Concierge Lounge is now closed. Breakfast is served buffet style in the restaurant. All COVID restrictions have been dropped. The sign requiring masks to be worn at the buffet table has been removed. Can anything make you lose your appetite more then watching unmasked patrons standing over the buffet table with their faces literally inches from the food? I know this is Florida which is in COVID denial. But doesn't the Renaissance give a damn about the safety and lives of their restaurant customers? Clearly not if they allow them to stand unmasked over the buffet table breathing all over the food. Shame!
Worn out Renaissance

Definitely below Renaissance typical standards. Staff was friendly and I was upgraded to a suite, which turned out to be a handicap suite. The hallways were dark and dreary with torn & peeling wallpaper. There was chip paints and dents everywhere. The lamp in my room was falling apart and had dented shade. It seems like they tried to make it look nice in the lobby, but it's totally worn out. The bar is super cheesy like a three-star hotel bar. However, the bartender was very nice. Renaissance needs to take a look at this place and renovate or sell.
Average hotel, below Renaissance standards

Stayed here for 3 nights on a business trip. The staff at the hotel are very helpful and friendly but that’s where it ends. Rooms are dated and I had an issue with a ground floor room on my first night. After I was moved, no more issues but hotel needs an upgrade. Pool bar closes at 5pm which is a pity. Restaurant/bar has no atmosphere with dated furniture. Unlikely to return.
Rooms are fair but the administration side is not

My Job booked this hotel for me, upon arrival the front desk asked for my debt card. Me thinking this was for strictly for collateral I handed it to them. They proceed to charge me for it instead of charging my company's card that was already on file, claiming they didn't see it at the time. They made me have my company send an authorization that they will pay for it (even though they obviously would considering the company card was on file). I still do not have my refund it being a whole day later as I have to wait for an accountant to come in tomorrow and sort the details. I don't even know if the refund will be instantaneous. I am stuck here with no money as they incorrectly charged me but they are saying I can get food at the good but way overpriced, especially for my budget, restaurant attached and charge it to the room and settle that for after I get my refund. The human beings are good people and I will not take that away but Jesus they wiped my budget clean and seem to not care nor have any understanding as to how this has ruined a vacation. They have not extended a helping hand given my situation or anything else and just play the wait and see game.
No Negative Comments - I Would Stay Here Again

I stayed in this hotel in early August 2021 and have nothing negative to say. My hotel room was very clean and nice. AC worked and Flat Panel was great. Wallpaper in bathroom had a few minor issues. I ate dinner at outside pool area one evening and food was good and patio area very pleasant. I used fitness center one evening and had no issues. Free parking was easy to access and I had no security concerns. Hotel employees were nice and responsive and front desk clerk graciously allowed me a very generous late check-out. Location is great - I walked to nearby Starbucks a few times. This hotel is not a "W.Hotel" and I paid a very reasonable nightly rate so was not expecting a "W Hotel" experience. I have stayed at "W Hotels" multiple times and really enjoy "W Hotel" brand. I did not pay "W Hotel" prices and consider my stay a win-win situation.
