60th Birthday Party Weekend Break

Reviewed 19 november, 2021

I had my 60th Birthday party at Hollin House on 13th November in "The Orangery" and it was amazing. The venue was perfect and was exactly what I wanted. All my guests said they had a fantastic time. Sophie, the event coordinator, was extremely helpful and ensured everything leading up to the party ran smoothly so that I didn’t need to worry about a thing. She was very friendly and efficient at all times. All I had to do was relax on my birthday so we, my family and I, could just enjoy ourselves with my guests! Also, all the staff from check-in to check-out, including the reception, bar staff, and all dining room staff were also extremely friendly and helpful, and couldn't do enough for me to make my special birthday go well. The evening buffet was plentiful and went down well with my guests. For those of us who stayed overnight,(24 in total) we were given a lovely area by the restaurant to sit in for breakfast together. The breakfast was ok, but maybe there could have been a little more choice and also a little warmer. My husband and I stayed overnight in The Davenport Suite, which I think is also used for the bridal suite. It is beautiful and has a gorgeous bathroom, (toiletries are included), and a "bridal prep room" and a sitting area with tea and coffee facilities. The views of the countryside are beautiful too. Overall, this venue is perfect for a birthday/wedding or other special occasion, Thank you again to Sophie and ALL the staff involved for making it so special. I would definitely stay again. I have visited this hotel for afternoon tea previously and Sunday lunch. Well worth a visit.

These Rooms are NOT Accessible Rooms

Reviewed 15 november, 2021

It was our first visit to Hollin House Hotel Bollington and will return again, the Bar and Restaurant was nicely decorated and felt really cosy. The Menu and the quality of food on offer is what you would expect from a well established Hotel in the Cheshire Countryside. We had booked an accessible room which in my experience should be on the ground floor, have a walk-in shower with hand grab bars and near the hub of the hotel ( near bar, restaurant and reception). This was not the case they gave us room 73 ( which was very nice) but it was the furthest room away from Reception,my Partner( walks with 2 walking sticks)and I had to walk through the Bar ,Restaurant along a corridor to the lift ,go the 2nd floor, along another long corridor and finally got our room, only to find the shower had a step and no Hand grab rails in the shower . I don’t know if the Management at this hotel understand the meaning of accessible rooms and what is required for people who have a disability

Don’t expect fireworks but pleasant place to stay

I want to start by saying the staff were fantastic. Polite, profesional and very accommodating. Ok, parts of the hotel, including the bedrooms need updating but beds were clean and very comfortable. Our room view was a white wall in the basement, but didn’t bother us, just wanted a room to sleep so curtains were closed. Bring your own toiletries as those provided were quite poor quality. Bar prices are quite excessive, so you might prefer to walk 5m to the Bulls Head pub. Food was good although buffet breakfast could have been warmer. Overall, I wouldn’t mind to go back, if you can get a good deal, as the location is good and the staff were very nice, rooms were clean and the chef even prepared us a box to take our pre-paid afternoon tea out, as we didn’t want to rush back from Lyme Hall to have it.

Winter wedding at Hollin

Reviewed 13 november, 2021

We had our wedding at Hollin House on 6th November (winter wedding package) and it was perfect. The venue is beautiful and was exactly what we wanted, and the package was very inclusive (including things like welcome drinks, wedding breakfast, evening food, DJ and dance floor, chair covers etc) which made organising the wedding much easier when there’s so much to do. Sophie, the wedding coordinator, was one of the reasons we chose Hollin as she is amazing - from booking the wedding to the day itself, she couldn’t have been more helpful and ensured the whole day ran smoothly, we didn’t need to worry about a thing as she had everything covered and, as she had kept telling us beforehand, we could just enjoy ourselves! All the food was delicious on the day and at breakfast the next day. There was plenty of menu options for us to choose from at the menu tasting and they were great with accommodating dietary requirements (of which we had a few!) The bridal suite is beautiful and includes a bridal prep room which was perfect for getting ready in the morning.Unfortunately a couple of our guests had some problems with their rooms, but have since spoken to the venue who were very quick to respond. We have been told that refurbishment of those rooms (delayed by the pandemic) is resuming in January. Overall I couldn’t recommend this venue more for a wedding, and thank you to Sophie and all the staff involved for making it so special.

Twilight Wedding Package Recommended

We had our wedding here on Friday 5th November 2021 and we would like to say that it was an exceptional day, well organised and great value for money.. Sophie, the wedding coordinator, was marvelous throughout the whole process, including the rearranging the date due to Covid restrictions and was there during the day on hand if we needed her. The day went so smoothly, thank you Sophie.. The hotel is beautiful, the staff were polite and very helpful and the hot buffet package with the wedding went down a storm. We have had so many comments from our wedding guests about how much they enjoyed the whole event. Well done to all. Five stars.
