All good except….

Mostly all was good. Caring and friendly staff, clean room, clean breakfast area, comfortable room and bedding. Our only real complaint was that the air conditioner didn’t work properly. When I complained to the manager, he said they just had all new parts, etc. We managed to figure out how to get our room temperature comfortable enough but it took two days of three. We kept the sun out of the room our second morning so the room didn’t get heated up. We had two other minor issues and those were handled quickly. For the price paid, it would have been great had we not had a warm first night sleep.

I would give a higher rating if they did not have Fox News blaring on the TV at breakfast. Make the channel selection something that every guest can relate to. Or leave the remote available for the guests to make a better selection.

Just to clarify this was September 2019 but it wouldn't let me pick it. Such a lovely stay. The beds were so comfortable as the sheets felt like satin clouds. Super nice bathroom with all the traveling goodies including a hairdryer hanging on the wall. The bathroom seemed to be handicap accessible. There was a nice little table area and a couch. There was a nice little kitchenette. The kiddo flipped out over two tvs. The staff was so extremely helpful and compassionate. It was truly a wonderful stay.

BUT Al was such a gem!

While our stay at this hotel did not go as planned, Al, who was working the front desk that night did everything in his power to try & remedy the situation the weekend of May 22nd. Upon turning in at 11 PM that evening, my husband & I kept hearing a loud pounding sound that would come & go. We could not tell where it was coming from & my husband assumed it was AC which we needed to keep on. Every time I would just about to fall asleep, the erratic pounding sound would return. This went on until 2 in the morning. I was reaching my wit's end b/c we had to be up at dawn to continue our 15oo mile move across country from Atlanta to Colorado. My husband was driving a 26 foot U-Haul towing a car trailer & I was following behind in our 2nd car. We were exhausted & all I could think was how are we going to make tomorrow's 800 mile planned drive on no sleep? I went to call the front desk but my husband informed me the telephone was not working. So, I put on my clothes & made the trip down. That was when I met Al. He immediately showed concern about my plight & politely asked if it would be alright to accompany me to my room so perhaps he could figure out what was wrong. My husband had now assumed it was coming from the room above but I doubted this. It was something much grander b/c with my earplugs & my head sandwiched between 2 pillows, & the bathroom fan running, the pounding could still be heard. Even upon going into the bathroom with the door closed & fan going, it still could loudly be heard. It turns out it was the building's compressor. Al did comment how he was surprised we were the first to ever bring this to the front desk's attention. He graciously moved us to another room at the opposite end of the building. We were able to leave our belongings in the first room to save on time, as it was now closing in on 3 AM & we needed to be up by 5:15 AM. Once in this room, and about to settle down, my husband discovered the AC didn't work. Fortunately, I didn't have to make another trip downstairs b/c Al had given me a quick tutorial how the phone line worked. Otherwise, we would have assumed the 2nd rooms telephone was not functioning properly. It turned out that there was a master switch (to save on energy per room) that had to be turned on so that the AC would kick on. Al quickly corrected this & we finally caught some shut-eye before the long drive ahead of us. I don't want to dwell upon the negatives with this night's stay, as the primary reason for submitting this is to emphasize what an excellent employee this location has & how much we appreciated all Al did to try and correct the problems encountered during our stay.

We usually only offer rave reviews on Trip Advisor. This is our first negative review. Travelers should be aware that the cleanliness of this hotel does not meet expectation especially with the COVID 19 pandemic we are facing. The first room assigned smelled like old cigarette smoke and the floor was dirty. Two chairs were positioned in a corner like there had been a rendezvous earlier. The floor was not vacuumed and a used toothpick was left on the floor. The second room we were assigned appeared to be a bit cleaner but was very dated. Breakfast was extremely disappointing. We have stayed in other hotel chains this summer and were completely satisfied with cleanliness and breakfast choices. COVID should not be an excuse for poor service for breakfast. Pending remodeling updates should never be an excuse for cleanliness. We were planning to stay here on our way home but will find an alternative.
