Some care has been taken on the decor downstairs in the restaurant and bar, but the room was full of mismatched furniture and was dingy. The bed was uncomfortable and the TV only seemed to have one channel. Make sure that your room is not next to the stairs as you hear every footfall. The en suite was a retro fit and the shower extremely awkward to get in and out of. Elderly or large people would really struggle to be able to use it at all. The staff weren’t overwhelmingly helpful and on returning after lunch and a full morning’s activities, the room had not been made up. This didn’t worry me too much, but I didn’t get my two coffee pods that were in the room on the first day. On requesting a re-supply I was advised that I would have to purchase them at 50c each.

The best place to stay in Bort les Orgues...I returned once again to this hotel where I find the personnel, the rooms and the food excellent in every way. Try to get a table on the terrace overlooking the Dourdogne for a romantic evening meal as the sun sets, lighting up the "Orgues" on the hill overlooking the city. The "Tête de veau" (if you like that sort of thing) is outstanding.

Comfortable and clean hotel in this small town. Room a bit snug but adequate. Toilet has some kind of electric pump system which sounds a bit alarming and is noisy. Bedside tables made of metal grill, difficult to balance an alarm clock on. Welcoming staff. Lovely views over river from room , terrace and dining room. Parking in park under the building. Very nice meal in restaurant, home cooked food, freshly cooked and well presented. Imaginative dishes. Definitely worth stopping here to explore the countryside. Photo of view from window of the organ pipes mountain which give the town its name, taken early morning.
