Great hotel with some great service!

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and the staff and concierge could not be more accommodating and kind. Fantastic service and support. The food in the restaurants was average but again the service was amazing, especially during breakfast at their CLINK restaurant.
Amazing Anniversary Getaway

The Liberty Hotel was a perfect overnight trip for our anniversary. Mark Shiro the concierge made it extra special by sending us up a bowl of strawberries and plate of delicious macaroons. Dinner at Scampo was also delicious. This hotel is a must stay at in Boston.
Truly a prisoner!

If you read my prior reviews you will see how I have extolled the virtues of the properties, staff and amenities each property I have had the pleasure of staying in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio in the past two months. I am a few stays away from achieving Platinum Elite status and due to the incredibly memorable experiences I have had in my last two consecutive stays at Luxury Collection properties (the Perry Lane in Savannah (I enjoyed it so much that I am going back for a longer stay during New Year's Eve) and The Joseph in Nashville) that I decided to book my next stay for work and family time at The Liberty in Boston. This experience has been farther from the truly outstanding prior experiences and let me share why: I am beyond disappointed because I prepaid for my stay using my Platinum Amex so don't have the ability to move to another hotel without loosing the money I had already put down on the room. I understand booking under the Platinum Amex or being close to Platinum Elite status doesn't give me automatic upgrades, but I in fact have gotten a worse deal than what I had originally paid for. Upon check-in I was informed that there were no complimentary upgrades available because there are a lot of people staying on property. However, the room my family and I were assigned faced the emergency room. The hotel's website doesn't tell you that they are situated next door (practically connected) to a hospital. We were on the fifth floor and my view was of the main entrance to the emergency room. I had asked earlier if there were other options and I was told that there weren't any. I even asked that if they could put us in another room category we would be happy to move the next day. Unfortunately, I was told that the only option was a suite (which they have available, but were saving for any potential new bookings), but I didn't qualify without paying substantially more to upgrade. I don't understand how on Thanksgiving Day that the idea of being gracious especially when I showed the staff how many stays I have ahead of me at all luxury Marriott Bonvoy properties in the next couple of months that would get me to Platinum Elite status could have reasonably moved them to try to make this a special trip for us - even for a night. This just made me feel less than and doesn't sit well with me and in fact has ruined this trip (at the start of the holiday weekend) for our family. I requested that we switch rooms, but the only rooms available have a king bed (not facing the hospital). As a result, I had no choice (or else face an emergency room entrance), but to move into a room with a king bed for myself, a senior and a teenager. The rooms on the website look nothing like the experience I am having on property at this time (unfortunately, I am stuck here until Saturday because I foolishly prepaid for my stay). Our room faces the courtyard and is looking at the roof of the jailhouse. The room we moved into didn't have toiletries, towels, etc. Perhaps this is because it had been just assigned to us? The mattress is old - high/low/lumpy in different parts of the bed. Unfortunately, there were small hairs in the bedsheets (and under), a pumpkin seed (under the night stand), the comforter was stained (with dark brown matter) and a stained towel (with what looked like blood specks). There are many more areas within the room that are making my skin crawl. Doesn't feel like a luxury property does it? The housekeeping staff was friendly and tried to get us what was missing from the room, but that doesn't make up for the defects in this room. I've only uploaded five photos, but there are many more that are unacceptable for a luxury property and quite frankly I feel embarrassed for the staff at this point to share further. Overall, this has been beyond a disappointing experience and we are only 1.5 hours into my stay and have chosen to spend this time sharing my displeasure for anyone else who will be staying here. We truly feel trapped (in what was ironically a former jailhouse) during what should be a happy and special holiday weekend.
Top Notch Service and Follow up

My wife and I stayed at the hotel the day after our wedding (which was at a different Boston hotel) to keep celebrating. We found the hotel to have just the absolute best service and amenities around. The bartenders at the lobby bar went above and beyond (both during the afternoon and late in the evening). We had dinner at both restaurants in the hotel and the service + food was fantastic. Management followed up with us after our stay to ensure everything was perfect, and they did just that. I would recommend it.
An amazing weekend in Boston

After our arrival and a very pleasant check in, we were looking for the concierge; and the same gentleman, Mirko, greeted us again at his desk. I was already impressed by the fact that a man could wear multiple hats, until we started talking to him about planning our long weekend. WOW, we were blown away! Mirko listened our plan and made several recommendations, enough to fill our entire week-end schedule. We were in Boston for 4 days and he managed to get us activity, dinner and tickets for events that were already sold out ( including the JFK library), making all those tasks look easy. At the end of the dinner he booked for us, he even arranged to for the server to bring us a glass of limoncello. He gave us also his mobile number and told us to use it at anytime, since he was off fri-sat-Sunday and we did! He got back to us immediately after every text, with a quick response, on his day off. He made recommendations and planned remotely things that were not planned in advance. We left this morning the hotel and felt pampered from A to Z, including the lovely touch that was left in our room. We will definitely recommend and return to The Liberty Hotel. We travel a lot but never felt so genuinely welcomed. Mirko is a star in an amazing hotel. T & M
