What a scam !
Shame on you Riviera coast vaudoise ! Shame on you for allowing such bad food on such a beautiful location ! The chef is obviously a fraud. Never have I been more disappointed in a restaurant lately. Looks cheap, tastes awful. Come on guys ? Who do you think you are fooling ?
An enjoyable stay
Small boutique quality hotel situated on the water from in the village of Cully. The hotel has recently undergone an extensive renovation and is now managed by the same team as the hotel Auberge Du Raisin, which is just around the corner. Bedroom and bathroom were both fitted out to a high standard. The bedroom had a good view over the lake. There was no air conditioning but that was not a problem as cool air could be sought via the window. Breakfast in the restaurant was fine.
This three star hotel feels more like five stars
The newly renovated Major Davel situated right on the promenade of Lac Leman is a true gem. We have known the small hotel's restaurant and the beautiful terrace for decades but have never stayed the night before since the rooms before the renovation where somewhat basic. Now the rooms have modern, luxuriously equipped bathrooms, wooden floors and very comfortable beds. We stayed for six nights and were impressed by the calm, the gorgeous view over the lake from our room, the very good food and the wonderfully friendly and professional service. It felt a lot more like a five star hotel than a three star country inn. The breakfast was also very good with its ample choice of cold meats, cheeses, fresh jams and a good variety of bread/croissants. Do not miss climbing up into the vineyards behind the village and the little beach near the hotel. We are looking forward to coming back soon.
Boutique tranquillity on Lake Geneva
After a long drive through France from Calais we need a quite stop close to Lausanne, which is a busy, cosmopolitan, noisy Swiss city. We found the Major Duval boutique hotel and restaurant and booked a night as a complete gamble. What a find! With a lovely suite overlooking the peaceful Lake Geneva we enjoyed a delicious meal on the terrace outside which is exactly what we had hoped to find. We shall return without doubt.
Wonderful location
For those traveling to Switzerland. This is a wonderful place to be. It sits right on Lake Geneva and is in a wonderful little town that has definite old world charm but is close enough to take advance of larger more modern cities. It is relaxing and most certainly French. The feel here is French that is expected since France and Switzerland share Lake Geneva. The food is great and the thousand year old vineyards and terraced hillsides are remarkable. The hotel to Western Travelers is different. There is no AC in the rooms ot TV. The rooms are well appointed and well taken care of, but in the summer the lack of AC can be uncomfortable. The hotel restaurant is very good and the view from the garden fro dinner is truly spectacular. This is a very romantic spot and is good for a longer trip or a short stay while traveling the country
