Christmas party /tribute night

Reviewed 3 december, 2021

What a fantastic night we have just had.We attended the George Michael tribute and had a over night stay.It started of extremely well with receiving a complimentary upgrade to fantastic Seaview rooms which were absolutely spotlessly clean.Check in was a breeze, receptionist very welcoming and friendly.Dinner was extremely tasty was not expecting it to be that good,it honestly exceeded my expectations, compliments to the cheff.Bar was well stocked with a good selection of drinks.Bar staff worked hard as did the waiters and waitresses brilliant service. The George Michael tribute was Andrew Browning was very good has even been on stars in their eyes and done the fast love tour Australia so a actual professional act.Breakfast also exceeded my expectations, big juicey Cumberland sausages and thick slices of bacon fresh eggs none of it greasy and all other items eg fruit etc looked very fresh.A big thank you to all staff we will definitely be booking again.

Disappointed

The hotel looks really nice and clean but our room had no heating and on the coldest day of the year was colder than outside. They claimed they had no other rooms to move us to despite there being rooms available to book on booking.com. They gave us 2 electric heaters but whilst we were out for the evening they went into our room and removed one. I think it’s unacceptable for them to go into a guests room without checking first and I was unhappy with this. When I reported it to reception they seemed to think it was acceptable and said if we didn’t like it leave!

Awful

Horrendous stay. Our first floor room is directly above a private party. We have come for a relaxed break with our young daughter and apparently the loud music will continue until 1am. We complained but no other rooms are available and no refund offered. The party was not mentioned. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU WISH TO SLEEP!!!!

The only good thing about this hotel is the staff who were very attentive and professional at all times.

The car park is very small even with the ability to use the hotel next door. Reception is very small and quite cluttered and no way to stay safe away from other guests also checking in. The lift is very small only room for two people with a small suit case. Heating was fixed on in all of the corridors and no way to adjust. All the standard rooms need closing and major work undertaken to bring them up to a reasonable standard. The number of faults are rumours from old workout mattresses to shower heads completely blocked. Room 231 had been affected by water leaks as the paintwork was stills showing signs of the damage. TV hanging off the wall at an angle, bathroom door that could not be fully opened due to desk in the way. The food at dinner on the first night was extremely bland with no taste, the second night it was cold and was sent back twice with no explanation or sign of a apology. The staff were the only redeeming feature in a stay at a hotel that should be closed.
