The hotel is in serious need of a makeover. There are water stains all over the walls and paint flaking everywhere. Our room however, number 102, seems to have had a make up but was very small, we had a terrace which again was in serious need of some TLC, if you book room only as we did, do not expect to be able to book either of the two restaurants if you want to dine at the hotel, you will not be allowed to, we were turned away from both restaurants. All in all I would give this hotel no more than a 4 out of 10, would I stay here again? Definitely not
Horrible experience overall.

Attending a conference in the sister hotel next door (Ocean Beach) but could not get in there. The suncliff serves breakfast later at the weekend which is not good for those attending conferences. Missed out on one breakfast completely as a result. The worst problem was the racket the guests made returning to their rooms (some as late as 5am) so had two completely sleepless nights. No signs up asking guests to be quiet. Had one supper there which was bland. The rooms were not cleaned. Apparently this was 'due to covid' which meant you had to request cleaning. However there was no information explaining this. Reception had to set up the wifi on each of your devices but when you got back to your room it did not work. Staff were friendly and helpful but it was a horrible experience overall.
Tired, grubby, delapidated

Booked rooms next to each other, but told on separate floors. They changed us to be next to each other however rooms looked grubby. Fan light in bathroom looked as if it had been on fire and so scorched it let in very little light. Furniture and bathroom floor scuffed Room cold - heating only 6-8am and 6-10pm so guests without a fan heater (I was lucky I had one) could freeze if they were in outside those times. When my friend asked if she could have a heater she was told by a quite surly receptionist that "the heating comes on at 6pm so you will be ok this evening".Ripped wallpaper in bedroom and corridor. It all looked as if it came out of the 1970. Bedside lamp that flicked on and off. The indoor pool looked lovely and it was warm however, the floor and wall tiles in the water were very slippery. The public rooms we better however, November and they left the main doors open so people kept coats on while having a coffee or tea. Overall, an experience i'd rather forget. We are left with the impression that, as my friend, who made the booking some considerable time ago and was told we would be in adjoining rooms, asked that we be put in rooms next to each other, we were given rooms that were possibly the worst in the hotel if not rooms that are hardly ever used.

Stayed in this hotel to attend a graduation ceremony. It was early November but the hotel was fully decked out with Christmas decorations. In the rush to get to the ceremony we left behind an Apple Watch and phone charger. Called the hotel twice citing our room number and asking for lost property, both times we were promised a call back which never happened. Clearly housekeeping found a use for the chargers!
Groupon deal dinner, bed and breakfast

Booked this hotel last minute via groupon, DBB and was surprised they had availability during half term. For £81 it was good value. Car park was easy and cost £6. Staff were all friendly and polite. Our double room was very old fashioned with dated furniture and fittings. But it was clean which was my main priority. We used the hotel as a base to explore Bournemouth during the day , hired beryl bikes which I would recommend. We had vouchers for prosecco and coffee and cake too. Dinner was 3 courses plus coffee. A decent selection and the food was satisfactory. Breakfast was better. A few noisy residents at night going back to their rooms which was annoying. Overall a good stay based on the price we paid.
