Except for the "room size" (!)

Reviewed 2 december, 2019

I would say it was "not a bad deal" getting to stay in the nation's capital at a place with my own ensuite bathroom, a flat-screen TV, a telephone & a small fridge (& a "quite plentiful" buffet breakfast included in the room rate) except for the one "big downside" which was the size of my room that is "pretty much a closet" (yes a bit of a struggle even to place my one medium-sized backpack), so yes for sure I booked a single room but just didn't expect one that small (and hopefully there's no "space situation" when it comes to their higher-cost rooms). And aside from a good breakfast, it was also quite convenient to have other meals available throughout the day (at a cost but pretty reasonable for "filling meals"). And yes, my great thanks are to the gentleman (likely a manager or such) who I could converse with easily for all my needs during my 4-day stay at this place. And as for the location, the proximity for sightseeing is to one of the city's premier sites namely the TV Tower at just about a 5-minute walk to the left after coming out (closed for renovation at the time, but a nice photo spot with the big sign 'EU (heart shape) Brasilia' nearby and where just about a 10-minute walk past that big sign are two more premier sites of Museu Nacional & Catedral Metropolitana), and the proximity for all "miscellaneous needs" is to the big shopping mall also at just about a 5-minute walk away first across the open area on the other side of the street in front of this place then just a short walk to the right followed by a left turn at the traffic light (with two spread-out levels of various shops, a "fair-sized" supermarket & also a food court with multi-stalls for "some varieties" of food).

Diplomatic

Reviewed 24 september, 2018

The photos might suggest that beside the glitzy high rise blocks, this would be a downmarket motel but I was pleasantly surprised. Also for a city with a reputation for high prices, the Diplomat is very reasonable. The service is efficient and helpful, the accommodation is comfortable although there's not much natural light downstairs, and the breakfast is substantial. There is a considerable saving at weekends. Patience is required to cross the busy roads to reach the shopping mall and eateries inside but it can be done.

Good basic hotel

Reviewed 21 april, 2017

Located next to a main axis roadside rooms are noisy during the day but the road is very quiet at night. Large rooms, comfortable beds, spacious shower with ample hot water. Toilet and sink taps a bit cramped but ok for average large westerners. Very clean. Clever mechanical safe. Friendly desk staff with sufficient English. Very good breakfast buffet and a free soup dinner time weekdays (7-9pm). Very popular so book ahead. Short walk to Brasilia Mall, TV Tower and if you're keen Cathedral can also be easily reached on foot and seen from corridor window on top floor. Ask staff about where to cross the roads though! Google maps will show you the zebra crossings though. Excellent wi-fi. Although distant local relative was worried about my safety it's a no issue area daytime and early evening. Check with hotel desk other times. Taxi rank in car park across road and car park also beside hotel. Would use again if on a tight budget otherwise I'd think about Mercure next to McDonalds opposite the TV Tower!

Short Stay in Brasilia

Reviewed 5 march, 2016

The hotel is in a great location, close to most of the main tourist spots and 2 large shopping malls. Admittedly it's not much to look at from the outside and it's fairly basic inside, but for a short stay it's pretty much perfect. The price is reasonable, the breakfast is good and they have free soup and bread in the evening which was very good and popular. It's also clean with helpful staff and has a taxi rank just outside. Also, considering the hotel is close to a main road it was very quiet. Our room was on the left hand side as you enter the hotel and we didn't get any noise at all. I can't comment on the rooms facing the road however. All in all it was perfect for our needs. If you're just going for a short stay and don't want to spend a lot of money then I'd recommend this hotel.

Cheap, No Frills hotel

Reviewed 16 december, 2015

This hotel is great for a travler who just needs a place to sleep in Brasilia. For the price, it was everything i expected and more. The breakfast was included, although the selection wasn't very big. The room had air conditioning, minibar, and cable tv. The bed was comfortable. The rooms are very dated and could use a remodel, but for the price, you can't complain at all. The staff was efficient. Not necessarily friendly, but they did their jobs well! If you are looking for a cheap hotel, and are on a tight budget, this is the place for you
