Lovely stay at the Nelson!

Staff amazing, helpful and friendly. Dog friendly and with no extra charge for dogs. Room large and very very clean. It is noisy as it is on the main Bridport thoroughfare however this didn’t detract from our stay. Landlady lovely lady who provided a great breakfast. Our only criticism is that there is a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the place especially upstairs and being a non smoker it was noticeable. We would stay again if in the area

Small friendly pub in town centre clean tidy rooms and a good welcome from the landlord. Really good selection of items for the buffet continental . Well worth a visit with good atmosphere The only tiny niggle was getting in out of hours using a door code not good after a few beers Highly recommend it for A quiet break in a lovely town
What a brilliant find this hotel was!

I have to admit at being nervous having booked this then reading reviews! But there was no need 😀 The lovely landlord, John, was there to greet us, frazzled after a long slow drive. Turns out he’d only taken the pub over 3 weeks prior to our arrival. Our room, huge, immaculate, with a large en-suite. Ok, if you want farrow and ball and white company cliches this isn’t the place. If you want immaculately clean, lovely crisp bedding, tea and coffee facilities, and dog friendly then this is the place. Some reviews complain about noise, for us pub noise wasn’t a problem. But you are in a town centre so on a Friday and Saturday there is late night/early morning noise outside, and seagulls!!! Breakfast, no cooked one when we were there, but a huge selection of cereals, breads, danish, yoghurts, you won’t go hungry! Bridport in general is lovely, huge selection of pubs, restaurants etc. A lovely 2.5 mile walk to West Bay with more fish and chip options than you can imagine’ In summary, fabulous pub, rooms and town. Thank you John & Sue for a great stay
Illegally breaching licencing hours

They sometimes breach licensing hours. Tonight they are still playing karaoke and it's 230. We look forward to putting up with the anti-socialable behaviour that follows the closure. Try not to forget you have local residents and tonight you are taking the Mick.
Business stay turns to a pleasurable one.

My P.A booked me into this quiet unassuming public house hotel for the week. What a move that was. Absolutely fantastic place. The welcome I received from the staff was friendly and polite. The bar serves a lovely pint. But only serving food at lunchtime means eating out in the evening is the only real option. This is generally a very quiet pub serving the hardy locals. They are even the most friendly, welcoming bunch. Some evenings you can hear the bar from your room but who am I to stop people and their fun, hey I was part of it during the evening so couldn’t complain. Every aspect of the pub and rooms are impeccably clean. The showers are adequate. The TVs are large, and the beds are fantastic. Well done to the landlady and her wonderful team for giving Bridport this gem of of a public house. I am returning next week. Thank you Camille and the team.
