Brilliant stay

Reviewed 20 september, 2021

Our family of 8 had a 2 night stay here and and all of us thought it was great. The rooms were all very clean, spacious, large bathrooms and comfortable beds. The food was lovely, the service was great, really friendly staff despite the fact is was extremely busy throughout the weekend. A lovely setting with plenty of tables outside next to the river. We had a great stay here and look forward to returning one day.

Fabulous place to relax

Reviewed 9 august, 2021

I can highly recommend this excellent pub/B&B. We stayed for 3 nights from Friday 30th 2021, in a lovely family room, which is one of only four rooms in the pub. It was clean, spacious and quiet, even though it was over the kitchen. A large en-suite bathroom was plus, as the shower cubicle was roomy for someone over 6ft, unlike many places with telephone box style ones. The pub is well decorated and run, with very good table service. The staff are efficient and polite. Food is good, especially the 'medium' English breakfast, which is huge (and I have a large appetite!). Location is perfect next to the Severn. There's lots of outdoor seating with large umbrellas, and it's only 15mins walk into town for the various museums, shops, pubs and restaurants. You can get to all the sights that are further away on foot, if you enjoy a reasonable stroll in the lovely countryside. There's a massive car park too, so you can leave your car safely throughout your stay. When looking for accommodation, it's so nice to find a place that fits all your requirements, when you take a gamble to book somewhere relying on reviews, which can often be misleading. I would return without hesitation.

Great location, nice enough meal.

Nice meal, not the most exciting menu but food was cooked well with good sized portions. Beer was ok and two different local ales on pump. Staff were friendly and prompt. Best thing was the riverside location and views which are very impressive.

Not impressed

Reviewed 6 september, 2020

Dispite the pub being in beautiful setting and reading some of the good reviews I was disappointed. Firstly was not impressed with the staff not wearing any masks no plastic screens at bar? Very confused as when entering the pub there are signs everywhere stating keep hands clean against covid 19 arrows on floor and 1 way in and out so why can't the staff follow the guidelines and protect themselves and the customers the menus were not clean and tables felt sticky the condiments on table were dirty and they shouldn't be on the table condiments should be in sachets appauling. I have been in a few pubs recently and the guidelines they follow has been excellent so I would recommend not to go to this pub shocking. Lastly the food was good portion I had spaghetti and meatballs presentation good and portion size good but there was no flavour in the dish at all real shame as wasn't cheap at £13.95, my husband did enjoy his meal though but it's a real shame that this pub is not following any of the guidelines at all apart from the lovely location I felt very let down and if I was visiting area again I will not be going there again plenty of other pubs in the local area to try.

Incredibly slow

Reviewed 31 july, 2020

Over an hour and a half for food to be ordered and arrive. Waiting staff seemed disinterested and we were told to stay at the bar to drink drinks as their system was down. Food was fine when it arrived but the time we waited was unacceptable. Poorly managed.
