Great stay at a wonderful place
The hotel was close to the airport off a major thoroughfare. The hotel was clean, staff was friendly with a great amenities. It made its a great stay especially the hotel location was close to many popular dining places and a mall.
Great hotel and staff!
Great hotel close to dining and shopping if you’re traveling without a car. However if you do have a car, ask the staff for their favorite dining spots. It’s all about the tacos and amazing Mexican food in Brownsville. Rooms are a great size and value and staff is super friendly and attentive.
clean place
I found this hotel by accident, but it turned out to be very nice and clean. The front desk staff were very friendly . The room was clean and quiet and it was in a good location. While I didn't really use any of the services, i still found it to be a good buy for the price.
Should rate higher with a bit of management attention
I chose this hotel in Brownsville Texas based on the positive reviews. Although I was verbally acknowledged as a Hilton honors member, not acknowledged as Diamond, and given two bottles of water, I did not feel like an honored guest as I normally do staying at the Hilton brand. There was an inviting outdoor pool and hot tub. Staying on Monday we participated in the complimentary evening social. This is where this hotel stands out serving supper: delightful creamy broccoli soup, make your own sandwiches, salad, chips, Budweiser beer on tap and three types of wine and more. Breakfast, typical to the chain, was also complimentary. Our one bedroom suite was complete with a kitchenette with an, electric stove, frig, dishwasher, microwave oven, sink, pots, coffee maker with coffee/tea/cream, plates and utensils. Everything one may need to prepare a meal. 24 hour coffee tea and flavored water were available in the lobby as well as afternoon cookies. Daily USA Today was available in the lobby. The hotel appears clean however there was an overwhelming odor of sanitizer/air freshener in spite of this the smell of tobacco was evident and the refrigerator smelled like old food. Furnishings and rooms need updating; The hotel was showing it’s age. The exercise room with three machines and free weights was utilized for our morning work out. Guest coin laundry allowed for packing light. This hotel is definitely family friendly complete with basketball courts and outdoor barbecue grills. Ample business center complete with two computers and a printer was adjacent to the welcoming lobby. There were a plethora of stores and restaurants within walking distance in fact, Olive Garden is directly next door. Complementary shuttle service to and from the airport and within a 5 mile radius was also available. Brownsville airport is 6 miles away and took about 15 minutes. At the end of my stay, check out, normally I am asked by reception how my stay and thanked this did not occur and left me feeling again disappointed and not like an honored guest.
Review
I really like this hotel and staff. My reason for the one low score is the fact that the hotel has been updated as far as the lobby and hallways. They look nice and are comfortable. However the rooms which is the important part of a stay is looking outdated the couch has no pillows, the chair with an ottoman is not convenient nor comfortable. The pillows on the bed has no support. They are either too soft or worn out. They flatten out as soon as you lay your head on them. The windows are stained, in bad shape and rattle when the wind blows (And Brownsville is a windy location). Update the rooms windows and furniture and I would rate this a 4 - 5 star hotel for the area.
